What did AVB say about a LB ?
GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND, BUS CONDUCTOR!

"We finally have Benoit [Assou-Ekotto] back so, apart from the fluid that he has on the knee, he was involved in all of the fixtures since he got back," the Portuguese told reporters.
"He’s an extremely important player for us. We have Danny Rose coming back and Zeki Fryers so we have to make the best decision [for next season]."

Interesting he didn't mention naughton. On his way to make room for rosé or possibly switching to rb.

The Spurs ITK is going through it's annual end of season optimism phase.

We will soon hit the June "realism" stage, where the ITK becomes about much attainable, cheaper targets in case the May targets fall through. And then it's the August "panic" stage where everyone realises we won't get the May targets, before the final September "post mortem and look forward to January" phase when we get neither the May nor June targets, and instead make do with the August 31st targets and still don't have a striker.

It's just how our club works, and that's why I love it :D
Agree it's how the club appears to work but can't say I love it :p

Heres hoping leandro is the biz. not massively impressed with the little ive seen, but surely he must be good if we have chased this long. Would prefer Osvaldo or vucinic for a more instant impact. However if villa does indeed come with him it will make a lot of sense, we won't need to rush leandro and use villa in the central position. If leandro makes an instant impact we could push villa out wide in a 433 with bale on the other side.

The same source says we are very serious about Villa and Leandro is all agreed.

He also believes that this summer we won't be necessarily spending what we recoup

There will be a clear SPEND!!!

Happy to share now

Thats good to hear, because the reality is, with the new tv money, most teams will spend, so we need to just to avoid being left behind. On a positive note, we do have a head start on the Liverpool's etc.
More excited about Leandro on potential alone, Villa less so, not sure how he'll adapt to be honest, and at 31 he has to come in and deliver, he doesn't have youth and potential as a fallback. Do wonder how he'd fit in too, not a natural central target striker, but then would he be wasted out wide?
I know he's class, and I shouldn't be so picky, but in principle I'd rather someone a bit more suited to the lone striker role and who has more years infront of them. Realistically Villa would need replacing in a season or two, and for those that compare him to RVP, he had been in this league for a few years already, Villa will be new to it.
Would prefer Osvaldo as a second option. Unsettled at Roma, so room to negotiate better fee, plus still experienced but got more years left ahead of him. Bit more suited physically to adapt to EPL too.

I might be wrong but is this part of the reason villa might want to leave barca- because he isn't playing down the middle?

Not really he has played alot on the left for spain and Barcelona, If anything playing off Ade would be perfect for him. Apparently if his only option is Atletico Madrid, he would rather stay and go for a free the season after

Damiao and Villa are high percentage goal scorers - over the years we have not had problems with shots - often reaching 20 odd shots a game but ending up scoring 1 or 2. Put these players in the mix and we might see some big scores, I really believe that's the difference between us and City or Manu.

Not so sure about the big scores bit, but otherwise totally agree, over the past few seasons how many times have battered a team and either not scored and lost, or scraped a goal and just managed a draw, it's been so blatantly obvious where we were lacking and although we always seen a bit shaky in defence it's clear that the addition of a couple of quality forwards would have seen us finish in the CL more often and maybe even challenging more robustly for silverware!!

Naughton is a natural RB, he covers LB when he has to.

You also have to factor in Adam Smith coming back from his loan. Some believe he has greater potential than Naughton, so may be given the RB understudy role and Naughton cashed in on. Free money/transfer funds, we could probably get £3-5m for Naughton, whilst already having a replacement of equal ability but greater potential without having to buy.

I do wonder if our toothless attack actually piles more pressure on our defence. Teams are happier to come at us because for all our possession we don't capitalise enough. Then with our pace, we seem to counter a lot. Having a designated CF who actually stays central and keeps the opposition defence honest, may just help out defences out too.
