Llorente would be awesome, he has moved up to the next level in the last year or so. Good skill and greater header of the ball, he would score for fun with Bale and Lennon, and should play off VDV well.

However, Bilbao selling him to us for £20M sounds unbelievable in the literal sense...hard to believe.

Would be closer to £30M I would think, and he may just want to stay there or hold off for Madrid/Barca in the summer.

I would rather pay 30m for him than Carrol - at least he will be a model professional and not go to prison IMHO

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Michael Owen yet in this window. I know he's down to half a leg, and averages about 22 minutes per season, but isn't it traditional around this time for us to be linked with him?

The Southampton left back Dan Harding looks a decent player .... could be a bargain/adequate cover for Assou Ekotto. Chamberlain looks impressive too.
My brother is a Ipswich fan Harding played for them, trust me he is Crap just having the game of his life.Agree with Chamberlain he looks the part shame he might end up at the Scum.

Honesty HONESTLY does anyone think a young Spanish player will come to England in the winter to a club with no Spanish speaking players? I don't doubt we will try as the irk said but it won't happen. Shocking waste of time and reputation trying. Time to add me to the list of fedups!!!

Don't know if this has already been posted...

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11827_6704197,00.html

Athletic Bilbao president Fernando Garcia Macua said "He (Llorente

) is not going to leave here while I am president of this club,"

"He is not going to leave Athletic this summer and no-one can negotiate terms for him. Whoever wants to sign him has to pay the (get-out) clause and all the extras. (bit of a contradiction)

"The player wants to continue at Athletic (Bilbao) for a long time to come."

Llorente said, "I am already at a big club and it (the transfer talk) is not something that plays on my mind because I know what I want."

"I just want to get back to my best level and score goals for Athletic. I am not thinking about anything else."

Owen was shit even when he was supposed to be good.

One dimensional player who fell out of love with football many years ago imo.

Is Llorente a "Power Headerer" or a tall "crouch headerer"? And would he be able to get in aggressively on balls in the box? What we need IMO. After watching him, I must say he has nice feet...

Long and slender, just like my wife likes them.

rebrab he is a far better aerial threat then crouch. a lot of his goals come from where he has a running start and getting on the end of things. his movement is superior to crouch and he also has a fairly nice touch (not berbatov class, but decent enough).

If ever there was a come and get him plea from a chairman, this would have to be it

Wilson, Gio and VDV (I think) can speak Spanish. Maybe Woody has also retained a bit of the lingo. Not that the spoken language at a club is in anyway a factor that stops transfers happening.

Would have thought that apart from Palacious and VDV, then Gomes and Sandro could also make themselves understood to someone Spanish.

Having said that I suspect his first language is Basque.

Crouch relies on his height though, and lets the ball hit his head almost, Llorente properly attacks the ball and has technique. He would give guys like Vidic a real battle.

As someone else said (Rebrab i think), He would be playing for a better team, and looking at his goal scoring ratio for Spain which is very good. indicates that he would score goals considering the chances he would get playing for a better team than he does currently.

:hump: spot on.

Although there are certain players I would prefer us to sign I honestly think any of the names mentioned would do a great job for us for the simple reason of supply.

We have some fantastic midfield players that make things happen on the pitch. With VDV, Modric, Bale, Huddlestone, etc pulling the strings any striker with a clinical eye will score a hatful of goals. In plenty of games this season with have created plenty of chances and just haven't had a really clinical striker to finish off the moves.

IMO most if not all the strikers (not including Hesky!) would be able to finish off many of the chances that our fantatsic midfield create.

Frankly whether or not a player speaks English doesn't bother me at all.

As long as he arrives and can say "I come to Englands to pay foootbail for de Tottenhams" then I am more than happen.
