We categorically can't play 5 at the back as they will overrun us in the middle third and midfield leading to them dominating territory and possession.

We also can't play Poch's narrow diamond as this will provide space for their fullbacks who provide a good attacking threat.

So has to play 4-5-1/4-3-3 and try and find space behind the fullbacks on the counter or through possession build-up

Who wever we play left and right wing will need to constantly close down Robertson and Arnold. That Anfield Barcelona game Arnold was given far to much time on the ball and he was picking passes for fun. If you give Robertson time on the ball we will do similar. I’m actually apprehensively looking forward to this match nervous/excited it’s been years since we have to been to a final of any cup. I am sure alot here feel the same but it’s one game winner takes all and on our day and even off our day we have proven we can take anyone. COYS

There aren't many Llorentes in these starting line-ups
Moura seems to be getting benched as well.
Cant score a hattrick in the dying seconds to get us there and then be benched.
Agree with others that stopping their full backs is the key.
If we give them the space we did against Ajax it could be painful.
Imo the best way to do that is ro have pace out wide and make them too scared to bomb forward. If they do Moura and Son have them on toast.

Think we have to start Lucas and Son out wide. Need to keep Robertson and TAA from bombing forward too often.

Let Trippier deal with just Mane for the most of the game

Liverpool is one of those clubs that I feel like we just match up with poorly. Their fullbacks are just so much better than ours, and their wide attackers would be enough of a hassle without their fullbacks overlapping constantly. We need work rate and counter-attacking ability. It's why I'd start Kane, as he can play that killer ball to release a Son/Moura on the counter. Eriksen hasn't been consistent enough with it lately, and while I wouldn't bench him, I'd likely sacrifice Dele. Such a tough choice for Poch...

I think the opposite. In recent games we’ve matched up very well with them. Dominated them in both second halves on our last visits to Anfield and our first league game at Wembley, we tore them a new one.

We just need to sort out our start against them. We always seem to start slow and allow them on the back foot. We can’t really risk trying to come back in to the game. I’m not saying go all out from the off but if we could not give up an early goal, or better still, take the lead ourselves....well, game on!

As winks is back in full training he has to start

Kane wont be fully ready so he should be on the bench

Lloris
Aurier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Sissoko Winks Eriksen
Moura Dele Son

Subs: Gazzaniga Walker-Peters Trippier Davies Foyth Sanchez Dier Wanyama Skipp Lamela Llorente Kane

Only major decision for Poch is who to play RB

My concern with something like this is that there's a lot of responsibility on Dele to occupy the cbs. We need to pin back their fullbacks and the best way to do that is to have Moura/Son 1on1 with them, if we don't have the likes of Kane or Llorente occupying the fullbacks then the cbs can go help out allowing the fullbacks to push up or our wingers will be asked to go more central. I feel we need Kane up there, even if he isn't fully fit, as long as he can occupy those cbs.

Yeah maybe, my gut is telling me go with Sissoko, Eriksen, Dele, Moura, Son, Kane but there's a small part of me that feels it's way too offensive and we'd be better off playing Winks and having more offensive firepower on the bench.

Issue is if kane starts he just wont be sble to do more then a half even with adrenaline pushing him. This could go extra time. Kane could come in on the hour mark and play the remainder including extra time which would be at a slower pace. With the 4th sub held back if kane cant make it. Would be criminal not to have him in a pen shootout

If kane was in full training from now then he has to start but sadly he isn't

I don't know if I agree with that because this season it took him 6 weeks to come back and start vs Burnley, he played 90 minutes and scored, he's getting an additional 10 days on top this time. I think he came back quicker than that last season. He might be unfit but it's not set in stone just yet as you're suggesting.

Edit, I agree about the sentiment of holding him back if we take into account extra time though.

I think we are allowed 12 subs.
If so I think we should include Marcus Edwards on the bench.
We can use 3 subs during 90 mins and 1 extra during extra time.
Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Sissoko Winks Eriksen
Son Kane Lucas
Subs: Gazzanaiga,Vorm
Walker-Peters Davies Foyth Sanchez

I don't ever remember a time in our history when we successfully played 4-3-3. It just isn't us. Plus- why play them at their game?

I say 4-2-3-1, Sissoko smashing, Winks grafting, Eriksen, Dele, Lucas and Sonny tormenting. Then Kane on for whomever isn't "on it" (out of Moura and Son), along with Lamela (for Winks) 2nd half if we're down 1 or 2-nil. Start out crafty, end with the kitchen fucking sink throw at those dirty red bastards.

****Edit***** Oh, and to answer your question: no, not Trippier. I don't know...either Serge, Davinson or Poch.
