I would play dele and Eriksen either side of sissoko, with Lucas and son either side of Kane, that way you prevent Robertson and Trent pushing forward, with 25 assist between them, only way to beat Liverpool, the last 2 away games we deserved something on both games, look at Southampton game, Trent is their big weakness defending which they exploited in the 1st half and I think Son could rip him a new one

We need to match Liverpool’s set up otherwise we’ll get overrun. To do this is relatively straightforward but comes at an unpopular sacrifice.

Son Kane Moura v Mane Firmino Salah

We need pace on both sides for both our attacking play and to keep their full backs pinned back/to protect our full backs.

Winks Sissoko Eriksen v Wijnaldum Fabinho Henderson

This is the main battle ground, Liverpool pack the central midfield with hard workers. Therefore to match them we need Sissoko for his energy and strength, Winks for his deep-lying passing ability and calmness and Eriksen for his creativity. This would mean leaving Alli out. We can’t play Eriksen and Alli in central midfield as they’re both way to attack minded and we’ve been bullied this season when we’ve gone down this route.

Rose Jan Toby Aurier v Robertson VD ? TAA

Pace and strength v pace and strength. Playing Trippier against Mane and Robertson = recipe for disaster and even more so if we opt to only play one of Son and Moura... will leave us lopsided and short of pace on the cover on either the left or right flank.

Lloris v Alisson

This is a given.

Dier has been a hell of a lot worse in my opinion and winks hasn’t had the games recently

Dier hasn't been fit for most of this calendar year. But he has still been better than Wanyama. That said, neither have been anywhere near good enough.

right FB will be an interesting selection

Trips up against Mo Salah scares the shit out of me, at least Aurier has the pace to go with him

Aurier's not quick. Also doesn't Salah play on their right? So he'll be up against Rose.

Lloris
Trips Toby Vert Rose
Winks
Sissoko Eriksen
Dele
Kane Son

Harsh on Moura but he is first man off the bench for me. Above lineup can morph to a 4 2 3 1 or 4 3 3 with no personnel changes. Shit it is 6:05 here and I have already been up for an hour cause I can't sleep.

I thimk that is the team we'll see

me too, the problem with Moura off the bench vs the other two is that he is great if we are chasing a game, however if we have the lead you don't really want to take off a 6 foot or so player in Kane/Son for a smaller player when chances are you're going to be defending a lot of corners. Son is probably the best compromise.

Been watching all the interviews. Journos are such ****s. They asked Hugo about the mistake in the WC final and if he was under pressure in this final for that reason. With Klopp most of the questions seemed to circle back to his six final losses. I thought everyone being interviewed for Spurs and Liverpool spoke very articulately.

People have forgotten in that final that hugo was playing superb, at one point croatia were through 1on1 and he confidently chested it out.

The error okay it was poor but when you look at it you can understand how it happened as he opened his body to pass to pavard who was quickly closed down, croatia pressed well, i dont think its a sign of mental weakness

Someone on TalkSport(i think) was saying how Liverpool was expecting us to go 3 at the back, which is great because we'll almost certainly not do that.
I don’t know about that. Poch always seems to spring a tactical surprise to our disadvantage in big games and then reverts to the correct formation. I’m just very nervous about his strategy for the big games.

Yeah exactly. We’ve tried 3 in the back to less than stellar starts, I’m definitely assuming he will avoid that mistake this time.

He’ll probably do it now and it’ll work. Who knows.
