It was a crazy idea to appoint mini Conte, aka Cristian Stellini, as interim manager. He was only ever going to continue Conte's tactics, and i don't think there's any doubt the players didn't like that style of football, especially when their confidence was low. Success in team sports very much relies on confidence and the squad's confidence was already low. So we were ripe for plucking at Newcastle and the Toon feasted.

At least Mason will try to get the team on the front foot and play to the team strengths. I don't expect us to win this week, but I certainly hope we play better football. He had 4 wins out of 6 (?) last time he was in charge and I hope he will get some enthusiasm back in the team, if not confidence!

This Babushka doll approach to manager hires is one of the maddest and most unprofessional things in the history of the Premier League, each successive sacking resulting in a less qualified, less able replacement than the last.

We're about three more sackings away from being managed by a Christian Gross that fits in the palm of your hand.

Why do people keep saying he kept the same Conte tactics? He literally changed to a back 4 against Newcastle and threw multiple attacking players on against Bournemouth. He did things differently to Conte, he just did them bad and the players clearly didn't play for him.

To be fair, I didn't mention back 3 or 4, but they certainly sat back and didn't seem to want to much of the ball until it was too late anyway. They didn't look confident from the outset and, to me, seemed resigned to their fate.

What evidence is there for Mason playing attacking and to our strengths??! Always baffled by the hope that being nice and an ex-player is the silver bullet to management.

Yep. Now I do hope he has every success, but amazing how some have just forgotten he was a key part of Conte and stellini coaching staff. Sure, it was the Conte show, but pretty sure he wasn’t arguing against what they were doing - he wouldn’t have lasted a week.
