Just finishing watching the Iran/Morocco game. Bit harsh on Morocco but fabulous result for Iran.

Four very different games so far but a good couple of days football

I thought the first three games were pretty poor but Portugal-Spain more than made up for it, one of the best group stage games I can recall. Lordy I wish we'd been able to lure Isco away from RM.

Also, Egypt is a proper little football side - Uruguay weren't sharp but Egypt deserved a point, I thought. If Salah was healthy Id pick them to get out of that group.

I thought the 1st half of Russia/Saudi was decent (but not great), but, just as the commentators said, it fell away in the 2nd. Just as well that there was a bunch of good ( or better) goals late on. Cheryshev's goal will get replayed for ever and a day. As for Spain/Portugal, it more than made up for yesterday's earlier games, which left me feeling that I'd wasted 3 hours of my life (or had them stolen from me). In fact, I'd say that one game had more entertainment than the 2014 WC and 2016 Euros put together.

I really want to see the best players tear up this tournament, need Messi to go on a rampage today, would be great for the tournament.

Thoroughly enjoyed that match last night. Love him or loathe him...Ronaldo, that was outstanding to score from that free kick. What pressure.

Can't ignore Isco either. Seemed to be everywhere linking play and offering an outlet. Boy got skillz.

I think Messi has to perform now. Neither him or Ron have ever blown a World Cup away, imagine if Ronaldo hit 8/9 goals this WC and Messi only got a couple?

Realistically it'll be their last WC's at the highest level. They'll both be dying to finally prove that they are up there with the likes of Pele on the international stage.

I think Ronaldo will be there next World Cup if Portugal quality. I wouldn’t even put it past him to make one is 8 years time.

Ready for Australia vs France. Good start by BBC with Alex Scott on panel. She definitely needs to be more prominent in their coverage.
