France sparkle only on paper. On field its a different story. Would be interesting to see how that match goes.

What a sad, pathetic mess Maradona is. Clearly off his bin all night, and the finger flip was just embarrassing. The rest of Argentina's fans were magnificent. The team, meh.

Some thoughts having had both games on.

Croatia are a serious force this tournament. Their reserves + Modric and Perisic did the job and they really have that x-factor that can see them topple a big side. Denmark first up and then Spain better watch out. That will hopefully be a fantastic quarter final.

Iceland played by far their best football of the tournament, going forward well and not just shutting up shop. Had several good chances which ultimately showed up their lack of quality finishers.

Nigeria should've done it IMO. Not because they were significantly better than the Argies but after the penalty they should've played it smarter.

Argentina ... where to begin except with rhetorical questions?

Why is Mascherano still in that side? Nothing left but an awful shithouse these days.

Is Meza literally the worst player Argentina have ever had at a World Cup?

Can Higuain ever be picked for Argentina again after yet another abject performance in a big game?

How on earth could they wait 80 minutes before putting Aguero on? How the fuck could Meza come on before him? Why no Dybala either?

So many questions!

France v Argentina is the ultimate "two sides worse than the sum of their parts" fixture. It'll either be a classic or absolutely dreadful.

I don’t disagree but I’m amazed what a big deal Rio and Lineker tried to make of it.

The Maradona circus is both highly entertaining and tragic in equal measures.

Tragic that he’s clearly not right in the head but you can’t help but picture the production team in the control centre going “and show the Maradona camera he must be celebrating... dammit, cut away cut away

Argentina qualifying for the latter stages was apparently too much for old Maradona

All jokes aside, I hope he's OK

Game needs some proper characters like him. Not the fake fucks we have now more worried about how many social media followers they have and getting the latest emoji shaved in their hair. Pricks.
