Hes started 4 times in the league, since joining Chelsea.
I believe lack of fitness and new playing system prevented opportunity in the early stages of the season
How many games did Lucas moura start for us when we signed him in January til the end of the season?
I'm not sure?
The question is would he get in our team?
Considering our injuries and the fact he has just played himself into the England side then I would say YES
don't under estimate our homegrown issues either.
Also I can't think of many other England midfielders we could pick up at that price
Delph maybe?

Time will tell mate, better than any of our other signings.
Tell me who you would sign then?
Easy to laugh, much harder to offer a better solution
I'm looking forward to your answer and don't forget to bare in mind our homegrown issues

Just think people massively over-state what he has achieved at Chelsea so far. Also people assume his career would have gone the same way here, if, buts , maybes. Similarly, people forget the agents fee, the fitness issue and the fact he hadn't started a game for 18 months at the time.

However, this discussion has been done to death every 5 pages since the season began. Every time he plays (well or not it turns out), the same arguments get churned out.

Time to move on from that one.

just came about because of his England call up really and our homegrown issues.
Probably keeps coming about as people can't believe we didn't make a move considering our struggles with fitness in midfield. Thought he would be a good deputy for the moose.
I've always rated him and sarri is no mug, Southgate seems to rate him also.

Plenty of people disagree on Barkley and fair enough I respect others opinions, however no one has given any other solutions.
De Jong is a pipe dream, missed the boat on the French midfielder also in my opinion.
We need homegrown players and I'm struggling who to think of, Delph had a good game for England the other day? Not fancying grealish at rumoured 30 mill buyout.
Any more ideas??

I think the issue is that its just in the past. I think plenty agree that hindsight is 20/20 and would have liked us to pull the trigger. The ship has sailed unfortunately as I too was very much in favor of the move.

Sorry, I should have just quoted my earlier post in this thread about Ross Barkley while responding to you. I've written ad nauseam about why Ross Barkley to us wasn't going to happen after he tore his hamstring.

:joyful: OH JOY! :joyful:

It's my favorite episode of.....

" Ross Barkley - TOO GOOD! :woot: The only reason we didn't sign him was due to pesky agent fees! - BOO LEVY!"

What other piece of information, on-top of agent fees, do we know about Barkley at the time we had interest in January?

:singing:Sing it with me, friends -:singing: GRADE-3-HAMSTRING-TEAR :singing: - *tears vocal chords*

*Fantasy* Fit & Healthy Barkley - Tottenham acquire Barkley in-spite of Agent fees. (y)

*Reality* Grade 3 Hamstring Tear Barkley - Tottenham balk at Agent fees as uncertainty of injury coupled with Poch's training regime could mean MORE extended time injured (n)

Till the next time ( which will be the next time Ross Barkley scores or assists), friends :)

Great response fair play, I've just always rated him and when he turned Chelsea down initially I thought he was ours.

I repeat he passed a medical at Chelsea or are our medical team so good they can just look at a guy and tell the extent of his injuries
I think it's more a case of other clubs are more willing to take risks than maybe we are, at spurs it's probably more a case of checking all the facts and figures then reviewing the facts and figures then a review of the review of facts and figures and then finally a final decision to review everything to see if it's worth doing.;)

Didn't matter to Chelsea since he was a home grown player who wouldn't necessarily play much - and he hasn't. Yet again, they seemed just as interested in stopping us from getting a player we allegedly wanted.

Can't believe we didn't go for Ross Barkley, the guy wanted to come and turned down Chelsea at first.
Now he's looking good for England.
Another fuckin bad judgement call by our scouting team

That's nothing to do with our scouting team?

I think thats unfair on Barkley, they needed midfield help at the time and he had showed good potential while at Everton. Of course it helped that he was HG but they definitely planned for him to play there.

RB hammys/groin (one of the other) not the best. For his own sake I hope it does not flair up again, as may be a slow recovery me thinks.

Ha ha, yeah I get your point.
But surely that's what medicals are for, just have a really bad feeling he is going to do extremely well at the chavs

Of course it has, it wasn't our medical team as he didn't have a medical

Our scouting team identifies targets so there should be no blame on them.

Barkley was on our radar for a long time and he was known to pretty much everyone that his contract was winding down

Well someone made the decision he wasn't for us?
Our transfer committee includes the scouting team"
22 mill (transfer fee and agents fee) was deemed a gamble. One good season injury free and he will be worth double that
