Ajax should be careful not to completely price out their precious young stars. There are some limits to what other clubs are willing to spend on players in the Dutch league. Even if we had Citeh money i wouldn't be overly thrilled with spending something along the lines of 90m for DeLigt. Just seems way too much for a kid impressing in a rather underwhelming league.

But then again, we are living in an age of ridiculously high transfer fees. So no doubt some team will pay up whatever Ajax wants. Suffice to say, won't be us.

I suspect them pricing their young players out of a move would be actually be great for the club.

I’m not sold on their prospects as much as some seem to be. France were absolutely there for the taking last night. Understrength and half arsed

He's a class act. from watching that I'd say he's well ahead of Winks. And I like Winks, a lot.

See absolutely nothing in that video to suggest he is well ahead of winks. He’s a very good player. But as a midfielder I don’t see much in it.

As a side note pochettino is watching Barca B probably just wanted to take in a game.

Have The Ajax board been in hiding for the last 20 years if Barca tactics have angered them, surely they must be aware of uncle Danny's MO.

Seeing as we've bought numerous players from them i think they probably have a better idea of how levy does deals than anyone on this forum.

I think De Jong has legit best CM in the world sort of talent.

Based on what exactly ? Yes he looks very good weekly in a very poor league. Bar that and a handful of international appearances I really don’t see what he has done to justify the hype. Not denying he looks a talent but people going slightly overboard on him right now.

There are people on here that consistently compare Winks to Modric...

I love Winks, but you don't see him getting linked to Barcelona, Madrid, City, etc. Maybe De Jong does take advantage of a weaker league, I just think he's an incredible talent based off his ability that he's shown thus far. All he can do is play against who is put in front of him and he's excellent.

Isn’t that what you and others are currently doing with Foyth?

The issue we have is that unfortunately we’re going to need to take a bet on one of these guys.

We can’t buy the ‘sure thing’, so we have to take a punt. It might go wrong.

I agree that he’s not proved a lot yet. But we have to take a view on someone otherwise we’ll regress.

If De Yong is 5% better than Winks in the opinion of the club then that’s a solid enough reason to get him. We’re talking margins. Harry will push for it even more - they maybe even be able to play in tandem, or we’ll get a good chunk of cash for him.

I like Winks a lot, when he’s playing well, but at the moment he’s not undroppable (yet!). Go Harry, go. Show us.

Edit - and we shouldn’t probably lose money on this sort of deal if we’re sensible.

Could be they are pricing teams out so they can hold on to them for while, so maybe they can win some trophies. Mad I know, but possible.

Watch him go to a top club and perform at the top of the game for years.

It’s worth noting Modric joined us at the age Winks is now I believe. He was widely available, had been overlooked by Arsenal and our only competition was Newcastle.

Sometimes a 22 yr old isn’t the finished article. Winks might get linked to such clubs one day.
I suspect he’d rip the Dutch league up if he played his football there with Ajax.

Ndombele is better than de Jong imo. Kid is class. Similar players but I think Ndombele's ball control and passing ability is a little bit superior.
