Yeah, not moving a lot of these guys in the summer was just a killer. Dembele was a prime candidate for a decent fee and that is completely shot now.

It is the wishlist after all right? haha

wouldn't have got much with a year left, but even though we don't know was likely over-priced by you know who.

Here is a crazy idea, how about we take a risk on some of these lower league players and loan them out so they get game time ? We did this effectively under ‘Arry, I love Poch but I really don’t see his strategy of keeping our young players training with the first team and getting no / little game time working out. Remember when we loaned Walker to Villa then QPR or Rose to Sunderland, I just don’t see that type of loan / progression happening under Poch. Even when it didn’t work out like Pritchard it still means we get decent transfer fees to add to the kitty.

I think Poch's managerial approach he prefers having players play in the reserves where he can keep an eye on them as opposed to them going on loan where they pick up bad habits, well he did up until a last year anyway.

Yes I know I just don’t see it working empirically, the players he is keeping around he isn’t giving the opportunities to and when they do get an opportunity they are less prepared physically and mentally than Walker or Rose seemed to be after their loans.

I think every player is different, some players need loans away and some need to be kept around, anyway glad that Poch has started to allow players to go away for a year and learn.

Still Shelvey. Replaces both Vic and Dembele in one fell swoop and arrives premier league ready.
Also what can Dier do that Shelvey can't do better.
On purely footballing terms signing Shelvey makes great sense.

As this is the wishlist... I would go balls to the wall for dybala. I would cash in on eriksen to barcelona or madrid to fund the move for him.

He is reportedly going to be touted out to allow the funds and squad position back to pogba which looks to be on the cards.

Poch is a big fan and a fellow Argentine, look how dybala ran the show in the latest champions league against united, he can dictate and set the tempo a la modric.

totally agree, do exactly what Chelsea do and don't go overboard especially if the new rule comes in. would of been a lot harder a few seasons ago with our average age, but now would be the time to try it. this season could be a toughie and in some ways we might even regret sending Onamah and CCV out, I know they both need to up their game, but them involved would make less stress with the injuries we have

Neither are good enough for the first team and I doubt they ever will be

I don’t think they will make it in the long run, but I’d rather Onamah chipping in instead of having no one due to injuries. And before we mention the summer please understand that a new signing might of got injured too the way our luck is going

Really feel like the arse has gone out from under our scouting the last couple of years as well. Seemed like we used to pick up low-key players regularly who went on to be serious first team players. Since Dele and Dier we haven't really gone out and pulled anything like that off. Time will tell with Foyth still, Davinson wasn't exactly a secret and the rest of our recent signings ability level's have been fairly common knowledge. That's almost as disappointing to me as the lack of high-value targets being brought in.

Chipping in as what though? He was in and out the Villa team last season and he's barely played for Sheffield Wed this season which suggests that he's currently not at the level we require so I don't see how he'd do a job here at the moment?

When the squad is getting thinner by the minute it would be handy to have someone about even if it was like before last 10 minutes. If he was with us he would have to work harder than he has with the 2 loans to even make the bench.

Was his contract that low hence his renewal in the summer, otherwise it might of made sense to sell instead of loaning

We'll never get any transfer business to go 'under the radar'. As soon as we show any interest the leaks will appear, other clubs will start sniffing and agents will start trying to bump the financials. We could feasibly get away with some very low profile signings but we should have learned from our N'Jie/N'Koudou/Wimmer past experiences. There's also the situation where teams below us can now offer top salaries and guarantees of playing time that we can't sanction. I also believe that the spiralling cost of the stadium will significantly affect our ability to spend and that what we can afford won't really improve us. It's the reality of where we are.

It’s balmy that we’ve given up this strategy (it feels like this isn’t the first time I’ve agreed or written about this).

He needs game time to improve, he needs a consistent run in a team to work on his deficiencies and mature so giving him 10 mins here and there is pointless... This is what were doing 2 years ago and people were calling for him to be loaned out.

I totally agree, but at the moment you might notice we haven't got any bloody CM due to injury. Winks is meant to be managed, and Sissoko is Sissoko except a slight improvement the last few (trying to put himself in the shop window)

Again what's the point of having him around if he's not currently good enough? I understand the fact that we'really light in central midfield at the moment I don't think even the club would have predicted 3 of our DMF's to all be out at the same time regardless.

dragon1: Declan rice
We are all over him
English and out of contract 2020
I'd be underwhelmed if our midfield ended up as Barrios and Rice, when Ndombele and De Jong are the players we seem to have targeted previously. It would however, be fitting of Spurs MO to end end up with Barrios and Rice.

Nothing to say Rice wont end up a better player than De Jong? N'Dombele i'd probably give you, hes a monster. But that ship has well and truly sailed unfortunately. De Jong looks great yes, but hes doing it in a substantially weaker league than the Premier League. Declan Rice looks to be a very talented, versatile player that could go right to the top. I feel we really do undervalue our homegrown talent and this is a prime example. Barrios i could take or leave at this point tbf, but again he could also come in and adapt perfectly to the league and be a very good player.

The chance of that happening is really really small
Rice is a Dier mk2
