Yeah, not sure why you quoted me and wrote all that. I'm the only who brought up the reason's we didn't ( agent fee & injury) and shouldn't ( type of injury) have signed Barkley. To clarify, I wish we had signed him pre-injury and post contract expiration as he was always the ideal Dembele replacement.

I was agreeing with you...

I don't understand where this is some big act of revisionism. Its a player a lot of us liked and wanted before he moved to Chelsea and we were heavily linked with. Its not like saying, dammit why didn't we sign Pogba.
Put the 2 together and what do you have?

Revisionism! (y)

It's gone. Let it go!

Alright, so how what are everyones thoughts on all these links to Nathan Ake?
See, now that's more interesting! (y). Well the guy is left footed and Jan isnt getting any younger. But not yet. More pressing matters as you yourself has said. Without a doubt need to be looking for an all action Mid this window, and we need to bear in mind Toby's situation as well.
Having said that we could do a lot worse than Ake.

We should be all over Sander Berge IMO as he may actually be gettable due to the jump in league. Could be too good of a move to turn down for him and Genk. Ake I don't know a ton about, but he seems to be fairly highly rated and is left footed.

He's quick, and seems to have grown as a player at Bournemouth. I don't know how good of a footballer he is with the ball at his feet, though. That's the key thing for me when replacing the Belgians - especially as Big Dav is never going to be the best in that regard. We need someone who's comfortable playing out from the back when being pressed.

Agree, Davinson is likely to never be the offensive player that Toby & Jan are. We need to think hard about the next CB who we bring in has that aspect to their game. Foyth has it but I still want to buy another player if Toby does indeed leave next summer.

I've only seen some video's of Berge, however looks ok from what I have seen. Looks like De Jong is a pipe dream now which is a pity. Maybe some of our Norwegian friends can shed a little more light on him (@Marty ) It's clear we will not be spending a bucket load so need to be smart.
Ake is 20 i believe and has 7 caps already. I think (and could definately be wrong) he would be classed as home grown as well. Seems assured and is a big lad.

Ake is 23... I believe he would count as HG as he was at Chelsea when he was 16.

Berge is a full on potential buy as the Wanyama/holding role replacement. We definitely will need a more forward thinking player than him as well. De Jong and Ndombele are the perfect candidates but likely out of our range at this point.

I think Berge and Ndombele would Poch's wet dream midfield duo. Both super athletic and strong enough on the defensive side to allow plenty of protection, while having the quality on the ball to assist in the attack.

For me Berge is the potential Dembele replacement, he can graft but also both passes and keeps the ball really well, he's very hard to shrug off the ball and can use that to drive forward or hold the ball until an opportunity arises. But he didn't play either Norway game this past week because of over-exertion and tiredness, which makes me think his natural fitness might not be all that. He did miss the second half of last season with a muscle injury that got more complicated than expected as well.

Huge talent and absolutely the right kind of player for us but with a risky injury history.
