Who do we want in the last 8 of the Champions League?

If we want to win the CL, we have to beat whoever we face. There are about five better teams than us in the QFs and there’s no way that we can escape facing all of them.

Why's everyone so shook. We play them at least twice a year.

Chill, we got this. And I'm the one who said we're turbofucked after the Dortmund draw.

Reflecting on it a bit further, yes City probably have more talent than any other team, but they're not the experienced, canny European operators we've come up short against before. They obviously just destroyed someone in the CL but who knows..if we set up properly.

PSG look amazing beating up on their own league and then got merked by Utd from an amazing first leg position, it can be done.

Went on Blue Moon to see if they still held any fear for us whatsoever.

They don’t, they’re very confident.

I really want to do em.

If we win this horrible draw, a likely semi against Juve is one we can win.

Playing at the new stadium, we got to do what Liverpool done to them in the 1st leg last season and blow them the fuck away.

That’s the main thing for me. City are a little club that have been bank rolled by a brutal regime. They are everything that’s wrong with football. Didn’t want to play any of the English clubs, mainly because I want us to be playing European clubs in Europe, but least of all them.

If we’d been playing Barca or Juve (two games I still think we’d lose) I could still look forward to the event itself something, playing city isn’t something to look forward to, it’s a chore.

I’d have been more excited about pretty much any other team

Juve - Ronaldo + possible revenge
Ajax - be a great footballing game with good chance
Porto - the easiest other team on paper so good chance
Barca - Messi + glamour
Liverpool/Utd - legends of the British game and bit of fan rivalry and banter

But yeah City, it’s like playing a bank’s starting 11.

Look, if we can't beat City over two legs we don't deserve to be in the CL SFs. Why is everyone so worked up? They have dodgy games, particularly in Europe. If Liverpool could do it last season we can do it this season (terrible current form notwithstanding).

Home leg first is an advantage.

The home leg first is a disadvantage, that's why the group winners play the second leg at home in the first knockout round.

We've shown absolutely nothing against them for the last couple seasons, I'd be delighted with that draw if I were a City fan.

Why has everyone written this down as a loss already? This wasn't even the toughest draw of the lot. We have the advantage of starting at home. Barcelona would have felt 100% impossible over two legs. City certainly doesn't.

At least the first leg is at home, I'll get to go now. And it'll be at the Lane, so we can hopefully get a good noise and atmosphere going.

If you honestly believe that the draws are pure chance and not rigged then please explain this too me because the chances of these match ups coming out as they have in UEFA's favor are so slim. Not trying to argue, I'm genuinely trying to see things from your perspective.

Just to put this out there, I couldn't give a fuck about our match up I believe we can beat anyone on our day. My grievance is with the draw in general.

My perspective is that the mathematical probability of the draw would be exactly the same for every other given permutation.

I believe that there is nothing to gain by UEFA in prioritising certain teams getting to the semi-final. They have already agreed the sale of TV rights and it isn't dependant on the teams involved.

I believe that most conspiracy theorists take nothing for face value and will ignore rational thinking anyway, so I'm wasting my breath.

That's my take on it.

It’s not all doom and gloom.

Let’s look at the silver linings.

If we beat City, we go to the SFs (and one step away from the final).

If we lose to City, we have one less distraction in our quest to secure TOP four in the PL.

Poch was right when he said it will take ten years to change the mentality of the club. Let’s play the games and see how we get on shall we, before we all roll over and give up.
