As we can't play Barcelona or any English teams in the last 16, our opponents will be one of the other group stage winners from:

Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Porto, Real Madrid, Juve and (Bayern or Ajax) .

I hope we avoid Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG.

The rest don't worry me too much.

To be honest, I think Dortmund would be a much harder tie than Real at the moment. They are flying and Real look real scratchy even with their pedigree.

I think we owe Juventus one, so not opposed to meeting them once more.

Happily take Porto, Dortmund or Ajax, but have to admit facing up to the elite clubs is what it's all about for me.

So in conclusion. Don't mind so long as we give a good account of ourselves. (y)

We won't beat Juve, they've got stronger than last year and I'm not convinced that we've mastered the dark arts yet.

To be honest, I never really pay much attention to how they are fairing such is their dominance in Serie A

I mean, I know they win their league most seasons which must make them superior, but because this feat is almost a constant and for me, almost a given, I pay no attention to how they are actually improving/performing.

Based on current form, Porto or Real Madrid.

Definitely don't want Juve again (as @Shadydan says, we're not ready), PSG or Dortmund, though the latter two would be incredibly entertaining games for neutrals.

It's nothing to do with their league position, as you said they're always guaranteed to be top. More to do with the fact that they're the same team that beat us last year but have bought some guy called Ronaldo.

I don’t care. We believe we can give anyone a game and with that attitude it doesn’t matter who we get.

Porto :cautious:

Avoiding a big boy would be helpful. I know we have a habit of underestimating weaker European opponents, but all of the big names would probably have too much street smarts for us at this stage - similar to Juve last season.

The last we want are Juve, Bayern or Madrid. The latter being pretty poor at the moment but somehow always progressing in this competition. I am hoping for Porto or even Ajax if they can do some magic tonight!

Don't really worry who we get... We have got there against all the odds, we will give anyone a game and have nothing to lose now we have avoided the embarrassing Europa shite

Well they signed arguably the best player in the world in the summer and he's settled in really well so there's that :D

Anyway it's not really about them, it's about us - we're still not mature enough at this level to handle a big boy in the k,o stages IMO, Juve, Real, Atletico, PSG are exactly the sort of teams who can shithouse the hell out of us and we wouldn't react based on what I've seen of us in the CL, we also give too many goals away and we've been punished severely.

This guy Ronaldo you talk of, wouldn't be that Portuguese fella who played for Real Madrid would it. The Real Madrid that we drew with and beat last year where he featured in both games. ;)

Maybe Juventus are stronger with him in their midst, unbeatable...Nope.

Knock out matches aren't the same as group matches, whole new level of mentality and discipline is needed and experienced teams and players know what to do to win, we're not there yet but we're improving. nonetheless.

It’s weird with Ronaldo, all the way back to his time at United I’ve never been that scared facing him. He’s scored some goals against us, but I’ve never seen him play his best against us either. Strangely Nani always used to hurt us more than he did for United.

You know what you've gone and done right there with that notion. We know how this plays out.

I'd like us to play either PSG or Bayern. It's all about the big games for me. It's great that in our 2 years in the CL we've played Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus. Just need to add Bayern and PSG to complete the line up of European superclubs.
