Tony - That's a ridiculous comment though, are we really happy for our season to meander by with silly points dropped due to errors from Robinson, just on the off chance that one day he'll start playing well again?

Granted he has, or did have, the ability to be a top keeper, and made some brilliant saves a couple of seasons ago but there comes a point when it can't just be bad form any more. That's like saying Michael Ricketts is still a quality player and should be playing in the Champions League because he scored a lot of goals once. Exaggerated I know, but how long can we go on saying he's in poor form?

Stoof - Fair enough, it was a good save, but really you wouldn't expect a decent keeper to be beaten at his near post from there. Anyway, my above point still stands.

maybe pascal should teach robbo to stand closer to his goal line rather then standing outside the 6 yard box to save a shot

Gerrard blamed Robbo for the second goal.

Direct quote:

"Paul will feel disappointed with the second goal."

So how does a keeper get better, does a keeper save every shot that's made. Does he take every cross that's put in, does he save every penalty that's taken. Impossible. He's a top keeper, i have no doubt, he's doing a job where he is risking life and limb every game.

If he got injured i'm sure we'd know about it, having Cerny in goal wouldn't inspire me with confidence, he's number 2 for a reason.

Look at chelsea last year, they had their two top keepers out injured and had Hilarious in goal, teams saw this as a weak link and scored more goals against them.

It's swings and roundabouts, teams know he and the defence are lacking in confidence so take potshots from everywhere, the law of averages say that one will go in sooner or later. I'm sure some Stat Doctor out there can prove the team that's had the most shots against them and i'd put money on Spurs being very near the top.

In my eyes, Robbo is my number 1 and will stay my number 1.

keep him in goal and stop jumping on his back for every goal that is conceded, every keeper makes mistakes just robbo can not move past his because the media and stupid fans wont let him

great idea, thats what Fergie did with Jim Leighton and it was a MASTERSTROKE...(give me a break).

When did Robbo stop being one of our most supported players? Never. Thats when. Of course he'll be supported by Spurs fans every time he pulls on our jersey, and rightly so.

Not sure on that to be honest Bill. When I went to Sheffield Utd away last season there were few few that were calling him a useless **** and a fat bastard and that went on for most of the game and jenas was second on their hatred list.

Thats all fair enough, but for a keeper at the highest level, he is alarmingly poor at commanding his area, that you cannot disagree with.

Ever, stoof etc thanks for retaining my belief that there are some spurs fans left out there with a sense of the bigger picture.

The sheer pressure Robbo is under is immense (probably the greatest out of all prem footballers given his position, fickle spurs fans, increased media/internet coverage etc) and personally I feel sorry for the bloke who seemed to love playing football and had such an affinity with our fans.

If we had 33,000 supporters (yes, that is what you are supposed to be) at the lane every week backing him when times are hard (because that is when you need a boost and to hear your name shouted, not after 10 clean sheets), I am sure he would get his confidence back, perform better, Spurs would climb up the table and we would all be happier.

But that aint going to happen because it seems these days that there is a vocal minority(majority?) of spurs fans that are a far too impatient, supportive, ignorant, and fickle to actually get behind a Spurs player when he is having a bad time!!!

Why don't we just hang 'em all eh?!

Let not beat about the bush...Paul Robinson has to be dropped his made far to many errors and now the spot light on him. It wasn't so bad certain SC member (ie myself and may others) being critical of him, its a different story altogether when established football commentator and the national news papers are now highlighting his weaknesses.

He now has a calf injury from reports and this is a perfect opportunity for Cerny to stake a claim as Tottenham No. 1, Robinson could still be England's No.1 but IMO Cerny deserves to be given the chance to prove himself to the supporters and prove to us his a better options than Robinson for Spurs.

I don't believe Cerny is a better keeper than Robbo for one second but if he plays well I don't believe Robbo should just automatically come back into the team once he is fit. With have competition between players for all the outfield players so it should be the same for the keeper as well.

Mate, I am sorry but that is bollocks. The closer you are to your goal line, the bigger the goal is and hence easier to score. You need to come off your line to narrow the angle and make the goal smaller.

Robbo has good reactions, but due to his complete lack of confidence has failed to really perform well in all his other areas...and a reaction-keeper may be naturally good, but i'd rather have a good all-round keeper who saves all manners of shots than a reaction keeper who can only pull off reaction saves...like robbo in his current incarnation.

we keep him in goals untill we get someone who will be an improvment, at the moment we dont really have anyone better, just as good on there day, both have there downsides but if both played well then Robbo would be way ahead

Robbo has made mistakes, but also pulled off some great saves to keep us in games, these seem to always be overlooked in favour of the mistakes....
