What the pundits are saying about us

Alternatively, you could just take it at face value, make a mental note and spell it differently next time. I always try to make it a bit humorous or fun when pointing out an errant bit of grammar and I usually only mention it when it confuses the meaning of the post (or, TBH, when it's one of my bugbears, such as "should of" and "would of" and "top draw").

I also try to avoid aiming any such posts at people who write "incorrectly", but still make their point clear, because that's what really important: communicating clearly. Grammar and spelling help, but there are plenty of people who can get their point across without a university education and plenty of other people who use their education to blow smoke and try to conceal that they are talking absolute bullshit.

Sometimes it isn't mockery and it isn't the class war. It's just information about writing with clarity.
‘Writing with clarity’ isn’t a choice, it’s a skill. I personally think it’s incredibly rude to make a point out of criticising the grammar, writing style or whatever you want to call it, of someone who hasn’t learnt or been taught that skill.

I also think there is an element of class snobbery in there. You appear to be oblivious to the fact that someone who doesn’t know the rules of grammar you’ve so clearly perfected, might be self conscious about that fact, and would prefer that other people don’t draw attention to it.

I'm locking this for a short while so that people have a chance to step away and move along because this is all just going around in circles now.

When I re-open it we're either back on topic or I'll have to find another way of getting the message across. Ta.

Every pundit fucking hates us! It’s a Sky conspiracy to bring us down I tell you......

.... what’s that? One of them just said something nice about us. Well, I’ve always rated that pundit to be fair.

Is that better? (y)

Has anyone considered the possibility of a conspiracy to bring us down so that an American consortium can buy us cheap?
