I wonder if any of them realise that if Liverpool lose tomorrow... if we then win 13 games we are champions

Didn't hear it myself but like anything it totally depends on the context in how it was said.

For example, if the initial conversation was to do with all the issues we've faced recently and he finished off with it would be like Leicester winning the league then fair enough.

But if it was meant in a disparaging way then its ridiculous obviously.

changing that Avatar a lot lately Pinky

hope you got a cheap enough Taxi from Stansted, next time your over give me a shout and I'll see if I can compete (y) goes for anyone flying into Luton or Stansted

People don't think we're going to win the title but complain if pundits opinions agree with theirs.

That's a new one
That's cos it's kinda like the Garfield and Odie dynamic; Only GarfIeld is allowed to beat up on Odie. But if someone else so much as looks askance at our favorite dim-witted pup, Garfield takes them to the cleaners. :joyful:

What i don't understand is why the pundits can't marry up success with expectation.

I'd wager that if you went back to the beginning of the season and listed the pundits "top 4" predictions we wouldn't have made it for half of them, but somehow we are a "failure" for not winning the League.

Why do Spurs fans seek the approval of the said pundits? I would never understand that.

Isn't it better if Spurs as a team just continue to perform and people continue to ignore Spurs as a bunch? Less pressure to begin with. Meanwhile the Lpool bunch keep coming up with undue pressure from the word go cause of the weight of expectations. I personally love that they don't utter Spurs in the same sentence as title, you can't "bottle" something that wasn't expected of you.

I don't take what Pundits say personally. But, I do listen or watch out for those that give us credit where it is due. On the whole, those like Neville have been fairly complimentary over the years.

It's weird, people don't think we're in a title race, yet we'll comfortably get top 4 at this pace. With all the off the field stuff this season, I am yet to see one pundit give us credit for that. Getting 3rd without any signings, constant stadium delays, countless injuries, the post WC fatigue and no pre season for NINE players would be a huge achievement. We were supposed to be in the new ground, so this has turned into another transitional season like last. Poch and the players have done a remarkable job.

The thing that cracks me up is if Liverpool finished third but they were playing home games at a different stadium, it would be a great season cos of the disruption.

Personally don't care as long we get title winning results consistently, which I don't think we do at present. New stadium will become a fortress and be the extra points between 3rd and title challengers at end of a season.

This season our pattern is to join the title race then leave, then join again, then leave again and finally finish 3rd

Totally agree with this. Alan Brazil for the last 4 years never mentions Spurs in the top 4. In the summer he didn’t even mention us in the conversation. Actually had Everton finishing above us.

Souness is generally really complimentary about us. I didn’t see this but maybe he meant we haven’t got as many attacking options in our current situation due to injuries and that it would remain that way until March? I dunno.

The heart attack changed him. He used to be a proper **** but has calmed down a lot over the years and is one of the less biased Liverpool pundits in my opinion, whereas someone like Phil Thompson can’t even say the word ‘Liverpool’ without ejaculating under the desk on soccer Saturday.

Soccer Saturday. Ugh. Massive clear out needed but they can keep Le Tiss and Macinally. Charlie Nicholas is a shithead.

they should so replace charlie nicholas with kammy.

I generally take pundits opinions with a pinch of salt and if they want a two horse race then let them be - i think the players and Poch should use those opinions as motivation to show those so called pundits up... ram those opinions down their throats...

I do think its a lack of respect to those players and Poch et al and if i were them i would just go about my business and destroy any team in my path.

Despite Neville’s praise he continually mugs us off though. You no it’s coming when he says “no disrespect but...”

Even before the first ball was kicked in the league, with the World Cup, transfer window, injuries that we had, squad depth etc. I honestly thought 5th and that we might scrape 4th.

When you throw in the whole Stadium thing, missing Dele and Harry for almost a 6th of our games, another transferless window and other injuries we've had it's crazy that we've hung in here.

He’s been a massive Poch fanboy for years so had been kind to us. Now all that focus is on getting Poch to United so don’t expect any favours from him anymore.

The other day I saw an interview with him from last year and he stated that he will never discuss whether managers deserve to be sacked or not, stating that "It's not my place to say if someone should be sacked, I have to focus on performances, tactical approaches, etc"

Thought it was strange as these principles didn't stop his tub thumping for Poch to become the new United manager and spending a good ten minutes engaging with Tyler on whether Poch should leave Spurs for United during one of our games! That's all alright until it benefits United though isn't it?!

He is just think he is a bit of a **** biscuit tbh.

If you ever get the chance to see Marco Boogers (the man, the myth, the legend) tackle on him it will improve your life

To be honest, he’s a United man first and foremost and a pundit second. I’m sure if we had a one club man as decorated as him pulling for Spurs we’d all pat him on the back.
