Anyone hear Souness writing us off for the title because we don’t have as many match winners as Liverpool or City?

The bloke is clueless. City I understand but then he starts waxing lyrical about Liverpool’s front 3 saying how amazing Salah, Firminio and Mane are and then going Spurs just don’t have that.

I’m sitting there going, errr, Son, Kane, Alli?! How the fuck are none of those match winners?

I could understand people writing us off based on our performances, which haven’t been totallly convincing, but I don’t think saying we have a lack of match winners in our front three is a fair criticism. I’d love to see how Liverpool cope for a month or two without Salah, Mane and Firminio.

My guess would be they’d be fucked.

Its not that Jamie Redknapp is right or wrong its that he is Liverpool thru and thru and can't help with the slanted views that always show Liverpool in a good light and is down on everyone else he just can't help himself.
As in Merson=Pro arsenal and anti Tottenham .
Thompson pro Liverpool anti anyone who may challenge them.
All of the pundits have their teams and can't help themselves being negative to challengers for their teams position.
I don't even think they know they are doing it as it is mostly subconscious at least I hope it is otherwise they are knowing what they are saying is slanted and as professional pundits its unforgivable.
I must say over the last month the best and most even handed pundits has been the three women pundits who have been well informed even handed and knowledgeable and as they are fairly new to the world of punditry the names slip by me but I am sure if they continue with their stellar work there names will soon stick in my memory.

Ahh the pundits, the only group of assholes who get to pick who they think will win the league every fortnight so they are fairly accurate by the end of the season.

I agree with that but it should be noted that Sherwood is often very Spurs-biased and Jenas too when he writes. I actually find Sherwood quite funny when he really gets going about us. Him picking an all Spurs team in the Spurs-Arsenal combined XI was gold!

There are so many pundits with so many TV hours to fill that I honestly think the only real requirement is to be able to string a few sentences together. The idea of impartiality probably isn't on the top 10 things that producers are looking for when they are making their selections... in fact the more biased/passionate they can get, the better.

I think a lot of people on here and everywhere else takes these pundits and what they say way too seriously. There are times i am incensed by them admittedly but the majority of the time i listen and thats about it. Som eof what they say is right and some of what they say is garbage - dont take it too heart and CHILL DA FUK OUT!!!

On the other hand, Liverscum fans incense me ALL THE TIME even sitting there quietly - they incense me.

To be fair I think that they say what many of us think. We are really, really close but just lack something. For me, we lack a player who can take players on and chip in with a few goals, like Zaha, and a midfield player who can pick a pass and drive us forward. Kind of a sissoko/dembele/Eriksen hybrid.

I just feel that against the top teams we are able to compete and even dominate but just can't make it count. We are every bit as good as pool or city, at our best, but you need to be able to win those games whether you are at your best or not.

We are so close.

For me the thing is missing is an Eriksen that can break from midfield and beat his man to score a goal. A lot of the time you can sit off Eriksen and block his passing options. If he could beat his man then he would have a lot more goals

I like Zaha, but he’s not really what will take us closer to the top sides. We need more people who are clinical at spotting the right final pass. We only have Eriksen, whereas City have both Silvas, KDB.

Souness is generally really complimentary about us. I didn’t see this but maybe he meant we haven’t got as many attacking options in our current situation due to injuries and that it would remain that way until March? I dunno.

The heart attack changed him. He used to be a proper **** but has calmed down a lot over the years and is one of the less biased Liverpool pundits in my opinion, whereas someone like Phil Thompson can’t even say the word ‘Liverpool’ without ejaculating under the desk on soccer Saturday.

Soccer Saturday. Ugh. Massive clear out needed but they can keep Le Tiss and Macinally. Charlie Nicholas is a shithead.

Do you think they really don't like each other or its just they like winding each other up on TV?

I can't work it out. Im assuming its the former because surely nobody who meets Savage could actually like him.

And therein lies part of the problem, ex-players of theirs who arrogantly think everyone likes them.
