Losing in high stakes cup games is the same no matter what cup you're in.
Most of those 11 FA Cup semi's were the biggest games those squads played in because we were rarely in Europe.
2 of them were lost by almost this exact squad give or take 2 or 3 players.

It's become a recurring theme since the 80's ended that Spurs get to within touching distance and blow it. We never recovered and learned to win when we needed to.

I'm not too fussed, what with Liverpools lack of wins in that period either. 1 European Cup since '84 and none for 14 years, Klopp having lost his last 5 finals. They have no more experience than we do. All we have is the weight of expectation to fail. Everyone outside of the club and some fans expects us to lose. That's a very negative thing and it's built over the decades IMO.

And you also said, and I quote "in most walks of life, the experience you get from failing at something makes you better at it the next time round"
In most walks of life, but not the FA Cup, no?

The point is that they don't have experience of losing 11 FA Cup finals. The fact that people like Jamie Redknapp and Robbie Fowler lost some semi final 20 years ago obviously doesn't give the current team any experience but that's not what anyone has said. Anyway, I can't be bothered to argue about it if you're going to continually just deliberately miss the point.

I'm wondering, if we score early or the score is drawn around the 80th minute, will their memories of failing in finals haunt them and break their spirit?

I've got a feeling we're going to win it on penalties, which is a shame as it means i will have died by stress explosion only a few minutes beforehand.

Unless I'm missing the point here then I'm sure you are. Seemed @'O Zio was talking about the current Spurs and Liverpool players' experience in big cup ties -- the ones who'll be on the pitch on June 1st. You responded with the club's history, which is a mix of fans, former players, coaching staff and executives (in that order), and only a little bit the current playing staff. Two different things.

You won't be the only one! The country will be littered with the remains of dead exploded Spurs fans!!:wideyed:

I think it's a two way street with having experience of losing a final. If you look at it in boxing terms and consider who's the more dangerous fighter? The guy who had experience of losing a big fight or the one that hasn't or is undefeated? (I know we're not)

That defeat to Real, especially the manner of the defeat, is likely to have left a serious doubt in their minds as much as given them the experience of a final.

Exactly this, which makes it pointless to speculate. You can even take it down to an individual level. Some may suffer from confidence issues in the final, but the majority could be even stronger and hungry for revenge. Or the other way around.

I'm just hoping the media keep piling pressure on them.

I'm not missing anything.
I dont expect THIS squad to have learned from losing in 93 Vs arsenal.
But I would have expected a lot of the squad on 95, that lost to Everton to have learned.
The squad in 01 could have learned from the squad that lost in 99.
THIS squad didnt learn from Chelsea to man United.

Losing a big game, doesn't suddenly mean you'll be better in the next one.

So is that what SC is now?
A bunch of people who make a point that's flawed, have a counter point made and reduce it to name calling and abuse?

Pathetic.

What's more, those two sets of fans, but Liverpool especially, walk around dressed head to toe in Liverpool gear much like Klopp does.

In my store I get a lot of builders early morning and there's one in particular that wears his jersey, jacket and tracksuit 4 out of 5 days I reckon. He's about late 40s too. Not that there's anything wrong with it but I dont think grown men should dress head to toe in club gear outside of club staff.

He doesn't wear it if they've had a bad result though. I always mention it to him too. It winds him up so much. I love it.
I was on holiday recently in Albufeira and we would see at least 2 or 3 every night walking around or in the bars, wearing the typical LFC polo shirts. It's like they believe they are little Klopp minions or something and he's their mate. They really are a weird sort of cult.

It was in relation to Liverpool fans belief they learn from failure. Which was then repeated here.
I simply pointed we have history to the contrary. It's my belief that regular failure actually breeds failure. It creates a mind set.

Listen up you codpiece ;)

We're on the verge of playing the biggest game of pretty much all our Spurs supporting lives and people don't want to read you banging on about losing big games. You're putting a bok on it so give it a fucking rest, its getting to the stage where if we lose I'm going to personally blame you. And don't give me that shit about not giving a fuck about what other people think about what you say. Have some common sense, they've been saying it often enough, nobody wants to hear it.

It applies to Liverpool too!
I'm saying if we havent learned from losing big games why should they?
They lost last year. They lost the year before.
Klopp has lost more.

You know that time that guy got banned from being a **** in 2006? Do you think anyone learnt from that? Like over time, the more people we ban, the more people learn not to be ****s from their predecessors until we get some Darwinian evolution of posters who are genetically predisposed to not acting like ****s? No?

The problem with most Liverpool fans from my generation is that, outside of Merseyside, there was absolutely no reason to support them other than the fact they won everything at the time - they never had an amazing star player, they never played good football, they were the epitome of 'win at all costs', and all they did was win.........consequently they accrued the biggest most risible collection of glory hunting toss pots the world has ever known.
If we win the CL, we’re going to have our fair share of those ourselves.

We need to make sure we educate them properly...

In history we were always known as a cup team. Not consistent enough to win a league generally, but on our day in a one off match we were a match for anyone. Coventry is still a nightmare that flashes back to me at times.
So i expect this match to be close, and i dont think who scores first will win. Who scores their second probably will. We (Spurs) should be underestimated at liverpools peril.
Win and we do what bill nic came so close to, close the book of the past, and look forward to the future with new heroes.
Lose, and we go again next year. Avoid Man City next year, and we could be back in another semi at least. We wont fear the german clubs, or juve any more.

I still have nightmares of the Milk Cup Final when Archibald missed a sitter from the 6yrd box when 1-0 up and 5 minutes to go:cry::cry::cry:
