We have a great away record in the last two years of CL and so as Son will be available I fancy our chances in the tie. My worry is that Ajax are reminiscent of Monaco two years ago with their no fear football. Everyone could see how City approached the quarter finals with fear

We shouldn’t suddenly change our approach though. We’ve been the underdogs in each knockout tie so far and as it stands, the Ajax game is 50/50. Real and Juve didn’t treat them with the respect they deserved, no way should we do that.

Obviously Ajax are a good side having knocked out Madrid and Juventus but they are a young side and will be inconsistent. They are level on points with PSV at the top of their league who we have already beaten this season and looked much better than them in the 2 games we played.
It’s going to be tough no doubt but I would rather play them than either of Barca or Liverpool
You can’t compare Ajax and PSV on their league positions, if anything Ajax would be ahead given their commitment to the CL. Ajax have shown this season they can compete against the best, PSV done us a favor against Inter Milan, but had shown nothing else.
I wouldn't be underestimating them even with our current injuries. If anything has shown us, you never write off an underdog.

Why not? Isn’t that the best way to compare them?

We have been lucky (of sorts) in that whenever we’ve had injuries to first teamers, the players who replaced them have stepped up to the plate - Sonny, Moura, Llorente, Winks & Sissoko to name the more regular ones.

I know some of the above would already be considered first teamers now but weren’t, not that long ago.

So I think, even despite our current injury list, the boys will give their best and would be willing to run themselves down to the ground to try and get to the final especially as we are so close to the biggest club prize of all.
Foyth, KWP and Skipp have also stepped up to varying degrees. They've all made mistakes but Foyth has also had a few MOTM performances and KWP was great last week against the mighty Huddersfield.

It's true, but it's not a result of luck. It's a direct result of Pochettino's focus on character when selecting which new players to sign - and which ones to let pass. It's also a result of his ability to decide when and by what stages to integrate young players into the first team.

We have players of varying degrees of quality, but we don't have any passengers.

Agreed. Because of that I actually think we have remarkable depth compared to most teams, even though it's widely considered to be one of our weaknesses. Our youngsters aren't shoved in the deep end - they're eased into the squad over time so when we actually need them we aren't plucking a random youth player in desperation, they're ready to take their chance.

Of course not all of the depth is of the desired quality (replacing Dembele and actually making some signings would help) but all things considered I don't think Poch gets enough credit for how well he has put together the squad.

I'm curious about Vertonghen's reaction .. How would that go?

Reporter: How do you feel, Jan?

Vertonghen: It's just k .......!

Can't wait man, it will be 2 great matches, an Ajax party with hopefully Ajax as the winner. It will certainly be tough, in this phase of the CL you should not expect any presents......

Tottenham is the most favorable opponent of the three for Ajax. There will be a lot of space and we can take advantage of that. Great to see all those former Ajax players in the Arena in May. For the first time in the knockout phase that we have an opponent who seems to be doing it (and you have to be careful).....

Without Kane and Son in their new stadium as we have to leave first. Thousands go to London. That's great, man......

This is a great poster and we are the first guest club to score in their new stadium. How fantastic this would be to lay the foundation there and finish it 8 days later in-house......

If Ajax can afford to play in London just like they did against Juve in the 2nd half, but take advantage of more opportunities, I see Tottenham as no problem. Certainly not now that they miss Kane and Song! But certainly not underestimated then everything will be fine and our heroes will face the final ...... (Barcelona 75% chance-Liverpool 25%)........

Looks it but it's not

PSV did show quite a lot and are a very decent team. We got past two tough matches and gave everyone in the group a game. If they were in an easier group they might of gone through. Ok PSV though is a much more normal team, got a few good forwards. Lozano, which is simply incredible, than solidity.

Ajax for what it's worth have actually improved in the league since going on this CL run. Before PSV were well ahead. The main difference is Ajax can be a bit inconsistent in the league before. PSV beat Ajax 3-0 in September, while Ajax won a few weeks ago 3-1 but domestically it's not like Ajax are well on top.

I dont like this footballing revisonism. PSV were very close to knocking us out the champions League. And deservedly so, yes they were defending deep but they were a constant threat in the counter.
