If we win our draw today then that'd be all the corrupt oil slaver clubs or of the competition..... Sweet justice!

Do you remember how mourinho got the beating of Pep when Inter played Barca in that epic semi? Two fast players up behind the fullbacks and a false 9 playmaker in Sneijner (I think). Given our injuries I think we'd be perfect to set up exactly the same way with Lucas and Son high and wide and Eriksen playing a deeper role, everyone else playing defence.
That side is a good reference point but a few qualifications...

They had milito up front who had world class movement and finishing but wasn’t particularly quick, tall or strong. Quite unlike any of our forwards... closest would be Kane.

Etoo and Pandev played on the wings as hard working wingers. Etoo was quite quick but Pandev was very slow. The key was not counterattacking but giving the ball from the wing to Sneijder who would play a quick cross field pass once the press was activated. The opposing winger would be in space left by advanced fullbacks / diehard press.

That team had world class defenders who were amongst the toughest the world mentally - Cambiasso, Zanetti, Lucio, Samuel, Thiago Motta. Stuff of dreams. Technically they could all play but they were also just world class defensively and could master the dark arts. Lucio DESTROYED Drogba in the 2nd round.

They won 3-1 at home but still lost away from home (allbeit because of Busquets dive getting Thiago Motta sent off).

Haha - this is true. I must say I thought Lee Mason had a good game on saturday (and he’s one of the worst) - never thought I’d put those words in a sentence!

The reason is probably because he wasn't under pressure, had we been playing one the big boys it would probably have been different.

Not their fans, but Pep reckons they're nailed on for the semi. No problem. Need his quotes pinned up on the dressing room wall.

and the guy in question is SHIT!

I'm sure he is the 1 that refereed a match that booked Dele for a dive (even though it was contact) and a suspension followed

We'll get no Turkish delight from ****ey Cack!!:shifty:

too be honest we need to frustrate, and keep them out without silly errors. we then have to take any chance/chances that we do get. I'm still annoyed that Trippier did that silly free kick when their keeper wasn't moving too good last week. I'd be tempted to leave Son and Moura up by the halfway line. I know we might need everyman behind the ball, but their pace is in the wing backs, keep them defending or in the middle of nowhere when we get the chance to counter

I was getting so frustrated that we weren't peppering the goal with shots, he was not moving well at all and funny enough the first one we had on target went in through him! We have to be more clever and ruthless in these situations.

Judging by their attack and being at home, I may not say nailed on, but they are rightly still considered favorites. Have we even won up there since Crouch?

I remember Eriksen bagging a winner from a Lamela assist 3/4 years ago.

You got the quotes?

The only [reason to] panic is that you will be out of the competition. I'm pretty sure we're going to be in the next Champions League. We'll be sad one day, two days [if we lose the quarter-final], then after we play for the Premier League and the chance to be champion. We play the final of the FA Cup, and next season we'll be there again; that is for sure.

If you ask me what is going to happen, we'll be in the semi-finals; that is what I feel right now.

It's what I felt right after the game and when I reviewed the game. Maybe I'm wrong but what I feel now, we'll be in the semi-finals

So basically nothing

Latest offerings...

I’ve got a bad feeling we will be fcuked over by poor officiating

You have bad feelings every week, before and during the match. They are usually proved to be nothing more than IBS ;-)

If Juve had won last night then I would have agreed Now though UEFA need us more than Spuds

I love the injury news from some of the media. "Dele Alli has a broken hand but could play with a cast". No he couldn't, hard braces and casts aren't allowed to be worn on the field of play. He can play with it strapped, but that'll limit his ability of shove, pull, gouge and punch and therefore his overall play.

Unless the rules have changed, that's not true. When I broke my wrist, and again after total reconstructive surgery of my right hand, I was allowed to play in a hard (fibreglass) cast, as long as I wore a glove over it and wore a long sleeved shirt.

Also allowed to play in a brace/splint with aluminium support strip in it.

Agree. I've always been of the impression that light weight casts were allowed.

I love how every set of fans have some sort of conspiracy nutjobs in their ranks.
Think it just shows how poor officiating has become in general. Every club is getting terrible decisions. Some fans will tell you they get more than others. But, we all do. And a high number currently as well.

I'm not just talking about ref decisions, this goes back further than this season - just think it's funny that every set of fans reckons that someone is out to get them.
