Rooney alongside Ronaldo 2006-09 (three titles in a row, as well as a CL win and another final) was simply incredible. Then scored 26 league goals in 09-10 and 27 in 11-12. So easy to look back negatively on his career because of the way it petered out. But he was fucking sensational and will go down as an absolute legend of the game. Anyone denying that is talking out of their arse.
No they're not, they just have a different opinion to you....the horror.
Besides, I think most are just saying he didn't quite fulfill his potential.

Different opinions are fine. For example I think Eriksen was better than KDB this season. Many disagree, and that's perfectly fine. But to say Rooney did nothing after he left Everton, or that his United career was only average is just ridiculous.

Not what you said though is it?

100% this, his trophy record and career goalscoring exploits at National and International level compare very favorably with most.

He has won the PL 5 times, he also has a CL and an FA cup winners medal.

He is the all time record goalscorer for both England and Man Utd.

Yes his powers are now fading and maybe he hasn't maintained his peak level for as long as other top players but he started earlier, and was a force of nature in his prime.

Watching Rooney flap around in midfield these days, trying to press, getting bypassed and doing that frustrated semijump before he turns around and jogs back, it's easy to forget that he once possessed a combination of engine, power , speed and ability that's very rare. Phenomenal player in his day, but United (and him) have suffered for not heeding the last thing Ferguson did as manager; discarding him as a Man United level player five years ago.

He's had some god awful grandmas too ;)
The only way is up for Rooney; in another thirty years he won't be considered a sexual pervert. Unless of course the age of his sexual partners have to always be disproportionate to his age. In which case he is truly damned.

He was then and then inexplicably Ferguson started to play him on the left of midfield. It destroyed his career. The manager just kept moving him about. Had he kept him as the main number 9 I suspect he would have got a few more 20 goal a seasons.
