Lo Celso could be that player from the looks of it. And Winks is pretty good on the ball, but he needs to continue his development if he wants to get to the levels of Modric or Pirlo.
Lo Celso, looks like the missing link.....from what i see in youtube..lol

Not sure why you are singling me out for when I post and do not post surely that is down to me isn't it? That downtime between Ajax and the final there wasn't much happening so not much to comment on.
But rather than focus on what I didn't do in your eyes focus on what I did do which was to make a bold statement that we was going to win the CL I even voted on the poll.
What I didn't vouch for and should of considered was that the team didn't show the same enthusiasm and passion the fan's did, instead they IMO showed a lack of belief and were too timid which I know you don't want to hear injuries played no part in that.

I don't think either team showed the passion to what we see especially with Liverpool, and expect that was down to the heat, we don't play in the 30's over here. I was confident provided we could keep them out for the 1st half, but going behind so early was always going to be an uphill especially having that 3 weeks off and 2 players returning after a long lay off. think Poch got Kane very wrong

And got neither of them.

because Ajax took Raiola on for de Ligt and price went up 20m plus a years loan, and De Jong decided to stay put as he wanted to join Barca, the same place de Ligt will most probably head. Players want to play for RM and the Barca's of this world before Tottenham

when Toby got injured in the 2017/18 season, Sanchez played with Jan, we conceded 36 goals and had a +38GD, Toby was part of a defence that conceded 11 of those 36 near on a 3rd. Toby played in 11 games, at you need to also take into account Sanchez never played in all the other 27, he had a 3 match ban in that.

Sanchez plays better in a back 4, and when Jan was out injured Poch kept him on the right hand side, yet when he plays for Columbia he is on the left. when he has played in a back 5 he has played central, a position he has only played in this season.

our best season defensively was playing a back 5, with Dier central

He is a calimity. A gift a game guaranteed. Gifts aren't always accepted, but they are there.

In 2014 our CB's were Vertonghen, Dawson, Kaboul and Chiriches. There are worse defenders than Sanchez, he definitely has a mistake in him but he's only 22 and he'll only improve with playing time.
Exactly. It's gone back 5 years. Just look at the mistakes and goals conceded column.

If you're trying to attribute the fact that we've conceded more goals because of Sanchez you couldn't be any more wrong, very lazy analysis.

I attribute it to having a make shift midfield, no true CDM most of the season, and I think because of what happened with the WC, Poch has done away with the closing down at pace from the front

Nope.

The midfield in front of it has gone back 3 years.

But he gifts a chance a game. At least. He is erratic. The defence is more erratic when he is in it. Anyone who watches every game and isn't blind will say the same.

Oh I didn't realise it was a competition here. I will only suck our players off. Even the bang average ones. Sanchez is not in the top 12-15 CBs in the league.

Defeats = 20 this season. I wonder how many he played in. 20 defeats. Chelsea etc would actually sack managers for less. Not advocating that it's the lack of money last year, but just advocates how poor we are at the moment.

Then I will stop talking to you as you are clueless.

@Shadydan I had a look. It's 17. He played in 17 defeats this season in just over 30 starts.

Coincidence?

Him and Trippier are bang average, it's no coincidence.

Why not look at how many games we lost last season when he played more games & was basically Vertonghen's partner for all but half a dozen or so games?

Yeah this is definately how football works, count up how many defeats players have played in and pin the blame on 1 player lol ??

This is why I said let's leave it...it was obvious where it was heading.

Yup. Why ignore a large sample set of data, it's meaningless......

I already agreed, it's not just him. The midfield options are poor. The 5 at the back is shocking. Trippier is probably our worst player for over 10 years. But don't discard that DS is a big part of it. He is the type of defender that has some outstanding moments and awful ones. But you don't want that. You want your defenders to go largely unnoticed.

Sums it up exactly...I want ours to hardly get a mention after a game...because if they're not busy then the other side's defenders are.
When they are called upon then do whatever they have to do simply and well. Stones attempt at a 'Cruyff' flick in his own penalty area was the perfect illustration of how NOT to defend.
They may be unsung heroes compared to the goal scoring forwards but I'd rather read about our attacking exploits than our defending cock ups any day of the week.
