It's not something new. You couldn't use Stubhub either before the match wa sold out.

I understand why people would like to sell their tickets for some matches, and I will myself at some point, but I have no problem understanding why the stadium needs to sell out first.

to use Stubhub the club needed to sell out the 26k capacity. Now it has to sell out a 90k capacity...

that's hardly the same!

The club should have done this in another way to be fair for everyone, like for example set a "sell-out" figure to be the same as the new stadium's i.e. 60k

But that's not sold out, so why would anyone expect the club to rather let season ticket sell their tickets and thus lose revenue themselves?

I don't see how this is unfair either. The meaning of a season ticket is to get access to all matches, not to cherry pick the best ones and sell on the rest. There's obviously lots of exceptions to this, and plenty of reasons to want to sell for the odd game, but that is one of the cons with having a season ticket in a massive stadium, and I can't understand how this can come as a surprise.

It makes no sense for the club to buy back your ticket if they haven't sold spare ones. If, like me, you're in the gods, no one will buy it if there are better ones available down low.
It's simple economics surely.

Feeling a little done having bought my first season ticket. Paid too much for it but thought at least I will be able to sell back some of the times I can't make games but guess I just got conned. At leas for me it's not too bad as next year I will get concession rates

Some people will moan about anything and everything.

The principle of a ST is that you go to most/all games not to re sell.

Just give/sell it to family or friends.

Jeeeez

Those figures are pretty disingenuous! Firstly it was 36k and at its lowest 32k. Secondly the club has gone from around 19k-20k season ticket holders up to around 40k so part of the work is already done and the club are not opening part of the top tier, which is denoted by grey on the seating maps and which is never open on the ticket sales website (as seen when purchasing, you see lots of green half way up the tiers and then nothing available. So it's more like 85k.

Obviously this doesn't materially change your point, it is less likely that the ticket exchange will be open. And the trust is rightly arguing that the exchange should be opened when blocks or tiers are sold out to encourage those who don't want to sit in the gods, but this is a new thing at a new stadium, there was always going to be teething problems.

Going back to the loyalty points issue....

My 150 lillywhite/bronze points vanished the days before I was offered and then purchased my season ticket

Silver season ticket holders get 25 points then 1 for each match. My account has currently got no visible sign of any points.

My dad is a lillywhite and has a ticket for Chelsea and Burnley. He has no points either.

I'm thinking the ticket office are up to something.

I agree with this, as a new ST holder I think you pay your money and take your choice. Plenty could have held back in the knowledge that General Sale tickets will be easy to come by this season.

In theory the club could be a bit more open with re-sale, but then you'd think it would be appropriate to cap each Season Ticket holder to, say, 3 resale opportunities per season to avoid the service being abused. The club clearly doesn't want to allow season ticket holders to cannibalise a major revenue stream.

The Trust is chasing on this issue, the club are being seriously tardy on organising loyalty points, but that has a lot to do with the unprecedented workload that comes with 18,500 members converting to ST holders and moving to a new LP scheme.

And everyone seems to ignore the fact there's nothing stopping you passing your card onto a (good, well behaved) friend for beer money.

Well that's the only way forward now I think. I've a season ticket and my wife has but we can't both go to every games as we've 2 children under 4 so they have to be looked after. Fortunately my wife lets me go, so I take a mate instead when I can. Sometimes though I'll just have to forego the seat and take nobody if I can't find a person to go with. Previously at whl I'd just sell the ticket on StubHub but obviously that's not possible this time.

There is no ticket exchange now really as we will never sell out.

On a different note we still haven't had our membership packs through yet. I'm assuming loads of people still haven't got there's?

Have to confess, I've had mine, got it on Friday I think when a number of others seemed to get them. Indicates they are being prepared and sent in batches,

Certainly glad I'm now a concession. I'll miss 3 games due to holidays and also the Boxing Day game. So assuming I attend all the other 15 it only works out at roughly £20 a game. In the past I've given my ticket to friends but they all have ST's now so that outlet has gone along with stub hub which I used a couple of times over the last few seasons.
Personally I think the club shouldn't have taken the 90000 option. Should have just done lower and middle tiers for everything except category A games. May be proved wrong once we get going into the season.

That's what I've always done: I have a group of 4-5 regular candidates. But two of them have just got season tickets now we're at Wembley and the other two don't live in London and can't attend. I even had a Chelsea-supporting friend considering it, but he decided the burden of having to STFU for the whole match was too much to bear.

I saw this snippet in The Mirror but haven't found any details to back it up.

It doesn't seem true when I check the ticketing website.
Even if this is true, it means we've sold 70,000 tickets for a premier league game. Only OT holds more. 10,000 more than the goons sell out, 25,000 more than Shitford Bridge and 35,000 more than WHL. Also our new home would have sold out. So I have no issue with this at all.
