That is pretty ridiculous excuse. Surely you could just say you were pissing around and take a slap on the wrist.

Trouble is, in the current climate where everything is made out to be as bad as possible, there's no such thing as pissing about. We're all far too socially aware for anything like that.

He will have been advised on what to say and what excuse would work best...

Seems to have done the trick pretending not to know about Herr Flick...

The FA should hang it’s head in shame for not acting on this. What happens the next time fans do it at a game?
They can sight the same excuse to try and get off. Utter bullshit.

Can't work out which is worse Hennessey claiming he didn't know or the FA accepting that explanation. Both need to hang their heads in shame.

Frankly, if he's so pig-ignorant that he genuinely does not know about Nazi salutes or anything to do with the movement that very nearly brought down the world as we know it, then he needs a ban anyway so he can forget the football for a while and read a fucking book.

Absolute joke of an excuse and incredible that they bought it.

So he has never seen the stock footage of Hitler saluting? Never seen a comedy which referenced or parodied a nazi? Or a ww2 film or studied anything relating to it.... Absolutely no chance anybody makes it to the age of 32 without knowing what it is. Most school children know!

I suggest a picture heavy book may be in order... Possibly a pop up book.

This is really taking the piss now....what an insult to our intelligence....
Wayne Hennessey 'desperate' to learn about Nazis - Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47996638

It’s utterly ludicrous. WW2, the Nazis, The Battle Of Britain, the Spitfire etc etc. Is all massively ingrained on the national conscience. The FA should be ashamed of themselves for believing his excuse. So he means to say he never watched Dads Army, The Great Escape, Where Eagles Dare, Schindlers List, Saving Private Ryan, A Bridge To Far, Captain America, Indiana Jones, Inglorious Basterds, Allo Allo, etc etc etc.

Nazis as bad guys isn’t just limited to GCSE history classes. A massive amount of pop culture features them as the main villains.

That all these FA suits, and Roy fucking Hodgson of all people, are now making excuses for the guy is utterly incredulous.
