Probably complete rubbish but I would like a defensive mf cover for Dier in case he gets a knock or has to fill in at CB.

I believe Wanyama will only have one year left on his contract in the summer.

Might be able to get him a bit cheaper as a result depending on the level of competition from other clubs.

One of my best mates is a Saints fan and doesn't rate him that highly. With Dembele's resurgence not sure he is necessary.

Will he fit in well with our young team? Will he have the same bond that the current team have?

I love Dier and hope Wanyama doesnt displace Dier

Is he better than what we have? mind you id have him over carroll on the bench

Is that because you think they do the same job or that he would be prepared to sit on the bench and be patient for his chance like a young Carroll?

I'm not a big fan of either of Mason, Bentaleb or Carroll, and would love to see one upgrade for any of those. Not sure whether Wanyama is that upgrade, but certain things about him does fit the new club strategy. If Poch is gain, I'm in.

I think Dembele can cover for Dier but surely we wouldn't want him doing that.

Mason's been really unlucky with injuries this term, but his performance against Sunderland was brilliant! Quick early forward passing, long, short, through balls. He really is a great player with energy and fight.

It just so happens that at the moment, Dembele is on fire and Dier has proven to be an excellent defensive anchor. Either may get injured and then in Mason we have an excellent deputy.

Right now Dier and Dembele are doing really well and we have Mason, Bentaleb and Carroll as back up so we're not desperately short. That said, Wanyama would be a great addition to any squad and if he's stalling on his contract so he'll be cheap we should definitely consider it. In past years it's been our players stalling so they could move away. Not saying I agree with professionals not giving their all but if it must happen I'd sooner see top players trying to join Spurs rather than leave.

We don't need him. We have Bentaleb as backup for Dier.

And there lies the problem. Bentaleb isn't a DM he doesn't do the same job as Dier. He's also very average. Personally I don't see a long term future at Spurs for Bentaleb, he thinks he is far better than he is and he won't sit on the bench for long periods.

Wanyama is a direct replacement for Dier, a player who needs a back up. But I am not sure Wanyama will want to be a bench player either.
