The League Cup is a total waste of space for a club in our position and we should use it purely to play our up and coming squad players and players who need a game. We should not get sucked into the idea that winning this ' trophy' will carry any weight with the pundits and others who continually bang on about our need to win ' silverware' and it will soon be considered meaningless.
Winning this trophy will not act as some kind of magical potion which enables us to win other trophies. This is total guff.

Interesting, as my unpopular opinion is that the FA Cup is the one that should be sacked off instead.

The League Cup has it's final stages in January/February and winning it has been proved by teams like City and Chelsea to be catalysts for a strong league finish.

The FA Cup has long since lost it's magic and the final stages are bang in the middle of an already frantic run-in, making prioritising the competition much harder.

Not sure, the 2 legged semi finals in January can be a nightmare ( unless you draw Burton Albion) and most of the FA Cup is now on designated weekends, with no replays. I also seem to recall that after we won the League Cup against Chelsea , we went on an absolutely terrible run in the League haveing been so ' bigged up' by winning the trophy against the then top team.

I agree the two legged semi is a drag, and they really should do away with it. But I won't let what happened in 2008 influence my feelings on the cup, because we were shit. The top sides almost always get a boost from it, the shit ones (us in 2008, Birmingham 2011) are the ones who tend to suffer.

Really what I want is for the League Cup to be scrapped altogether and for the FA Cup to be moved to a mid-season final, but tradition will never let that happen.

scrapping the League cup altogether would be good, irrespective of what they did with the FA Cup. Of course, when you say the top sides always get a boost, is that not something of a self-fulfilling prophecy because they are already the best sides with the deepest squads most able to cope with all competitions.

Scrap the league cup. Play the qualifying rounds and rounds 1 & 2 of the fa cup from Jan - May. Play the 3rd round in early September and work through to a January final.

Match day has become less fun year after year.

Do you think it's because of the way the game (premiership football) has moved more to targeting a more middle class customer especially with regards to ticket prices but also especially with how we have designed our stadium the typical match experience? I'm in my late 20's so I never got to experience when it was more of a working class game but coming from a working class background it's difficult to afford as consistently as I'd like but when I do go I find a lot of the fans seem to go out of habit and I'm not sure they actually enjoy it anymore.

I’m 29 so I expect I’ve had the same experience as you.

I would generally agree with your point but I think “middle class” is too hard to define. Working class families have money so I don’t think it’s a class thing anyway. Though I do think the cost is ridiculous.

The crowds of the 80s was made up of teenagers and 20 somethings. Now those crowds have gotten older, kept their season tickets and now take their kids.

It’s become soft and commercial. It will never be anything but that now.

My unpopular/inaccurate opinion is thus:

Cool, we've signed Ndombele. (And Clark)

We need a lot more than that if we are going to be competitive.

Personally I reckon a further two first team signings is a minimum requirement, otherwise I think this window will be underwhelming given the amount of work the squad needs.

Only Ndombele isn't enough.

Not sure it’s unpopular, I think you’re spot on. Not sorting right back will cost us if it doesn’t happen. It cost us in out most important game last season with sissoko’s handball. If he’d of had faith in trippier he wouldn’t of been pointing for him to get into position and we wouldn’t of conceded the penalty. That can be my unpopular opinion actually!

I echo the concerns about Harry Kane. He seems to have lost the strength/confidence in his ankles to really jump. hopefully I am wrong and we will see him leaping to win balls in the air against defenders again and not backing in, fouling defenders and trying to win free-kicks instead.

I’m alarmed by our perceived unwillingness to sort it out long term. There must be something naturally wrong with his ankles. Maybe even an operation wouldn’t work. It’s expectedly a bit hush hush.

Too many of you see Spurs with rose tinted glasses,
Trippier will prove he is one of the best right backs in the country this season (if he stays)
Rose is not as quick as people think and is vastly overrated.
If Eriksen was world class, he would be able to get past the first man at corners and score more than on free kick a season.
Lloris is on his way down, his distribution is abysmal and he goes down too early for one on ones.
If our training ground/facilities are so good, why do we have so many fucking injuries.? And why can't we score more from dead balls?

in my opinion most of the unpopular opinions are really unpopular but if you want to be really unpopular your unpopular opinion should be more unpopular than the unpopular opinions on this site for unpopular opinions otherwise you are in danger of a popular opinion instead of an unpopular opinion I am sure my unpopular opinion will be seen as the most popular of the unpopular decisions.

I can't wait for Eriksen to go, everyone else arrives first day back at training all happy and smiling, he walks in as if the dead lice are falling off him. He also has the personality of a wet dishcloth.
