Why did Sevilla get more points for their UEFA cup victory than Barcelona / Liverpool for their CL triumphs?

I think it's two points for a win, one for a draw in normal time then bonus points are awarded for reaching certain stages of the two European competitions. The bonus points are skewed towards Champions League teams so:
3 for getting to CL group stage
1 for getting out of group
1 for reaching quarters
1 for reaching semi
1 for reaching final

In the UEFA, I think its:
1 for reaching quarters
1 for reaching semi
1 for reaching final

Points are added together for the last five years

This club score is then added to 1/3 of the score for the league that club plays in to get an overall rating.

Seeing PSV at 11th kind of makes me feel better about things though. It's good to see our top sides all right up there too. Even if i do hate them all except Man U. Well Pool aint so bad i just don't like their footy.

Pretty irrelevant as far as Boro and the Barcodes are concerned, as I can't see them back in Europe in a hurry.

This is the same as the FIFA world rankings - a load of old cobblers that uses irrelevant numbers to compile a random list of teams. As long as the top 5 or 6 are happy then the rest of the list can be considered a load of crap.

If you think that a victory over Barcelona away is on the same level as beating Larissa FC at home then you're deluded. Get a lucky draw and you can waltz up or down that table in a heartbeat. Equally, dropping out of the CL and into the Waffa is a great way to dance up the charts - that way you get the points for qualifying then you get "demoted" to likely play much less daunting opposition to earn yet more points.

In fact, the route Rangers have taken is actually looking like the easier way to climb this table. Shame it means nothing really

Millwall and Southampton are joint 94th, I think that tells you all you need to know... The other season West Ham were in it just with the automatic nation points...

I've been coming round to this way of thinking in the last few days, the superior CL has a smattering of fall guy teams thrown in the deep end (and a few more if Platini gets his way) which means that the so-called elite evergreens can
rack up some cricket scores and play the CL so as to not bother fielding full teams for their remaining group matches making the tourney a travesty. When teams don't bother to win games anymore it has become a sad state of affairs.

Imagine a Bolton fan who flown out to Madrid the other night to see that shower of shit not bothering, amazes me toally, not that Spurs haven't been tinkering here and there lately either.

Pretty much a case of Boro going the distance a few years back hence getting loads of points.
