Maybe Ramos saw him up that tree and thought he needed the extra training as well

Anyway its nice to hear that this is happening - the fitness of the whole squad is just shocking in comparison to the other teams - Arsenal look like they can play for more than 120 minutes let alone 90mins in which spurs fail to even get to.

Minutes 1-90 aren't often a worry this season. It's minutes 91-94 that we've had a slight problem with.

Love all the posts saying, "That's more like it!" and "Excellent news!" that he's making them work harder - love to see all your comments as we start watching the drop like flies in training and we have to field Alnwick and recall O'Hara to the first team

If our training sessions have gone into overdrive, it's stage one of weeding out the freeloaders i guess

Maybe it's a good thing Ghaly is the other side of the globe - soon as Ramos see's his name on the sheet though, what's the betting Hossam turns up at a training session at the Lodge looking mighty pissed off but with a lovely tan?

Fair point with the last minute goals but we conceded full stop.

But what I should have mentioned is that some players look so unfit - hudd yesterday looked tired within the first ten minutes and hopefully Ramos will improve that and the general fitness of the whole team with the help of Alvarez.

My other hope is that he is also putting the defence through its paces as well. We just need to stop conceding goals.

btw - people have mentioned that ramos loves to play his wingers when he was at seville...does anyone think we might see more of routledge? Lennon is slowly getting back his form but could routy get a new lease of life from Ramos and realise his potential?

So we havent trained more than once a day until now?
That doesnt sound to good if u ask me..

That is exactly what I was thinking!! No wonder we cant play football for 90/93 mins!! It would explain a lot of our problem if the players aren't bloody fit to last until the final whistle. He's obviously noticed (as have all the other coaches we play against) that if you push Spurs to the final whistle, they'll break and concede goals...I'm glad he's straight in there sorting out quite a majorly obvious problem. All other coaches will be going 'Oh shit, he's getting them fit'...and that rhymes, excellent.

The players should be put through the paces but it's also as important to rest.

I find it amazing that this never happened under Jol. I guess Steve Bruce wasn't telling porkies. Maybe Jol was too nice for his own good.

This is good, he will be able to see who has there heart in the club and who doesn't. I'm with RSS on the injury front though but the fitter they get the less injury they will get when training.

Will be very interesting to see just how they play wednesday night, who drops after 60 mins through being exhausted (Hudd).

I hope this is just the norm for Ramos and just the start of things to come, we want hard bastards in the team not panzies.

Isn't it likely he's having extra sessions because he takes charge of his first game so quickly?

Maybe he wants to see how efficient the laundry and the kit men are...

Last year when Fabio Capello took over Real Madrid, he said he couldn't believe the poor shape of the squad. And his regiment won them a lot of games.

I'm sure Ramos is going to be doing everything to get these guys in better shape as for us, that would have already been worth 11 points this campaign.

Nah it's his way of things, they will have to get used to it or leave won't they, why should they get afternoons off anyway, there paid enough to be there from 9 til 5.

I'm guessing this is just the start of things to come, we will see a difference on the pitch after a few weeks of this i'm sure.

Anyone else think we might hammer Blackpool now, say 5 - 1.

not sure i buy this idea that more training = more injuries. Plenty of evidence to suggest that the right type of training minmises injuries.

i like the idea of electric shocks being adminstered when they fuck up in any way, some of them wouldnt make it back from the training pitch based on what ive seen during matches.
