I'm not the most optimistic going into this game to be honest. We haven't been great in the first 2 matches but despite winning Liverpool still conceded 3 against Arsenal, apparently they were poor in the first half too which I missed and then they lost to Burnley. I just really don't know what to make of it. Redknapp has an interesting preview:

http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ut-tottenham-show-the-way-says-jamie-redknapp

Liverpool are lacking a defensive midfielder with the power of Spurs’ central pairing, says Jamie Redknapp.

Tottenham v Liverpool was Jurgen Klopp's first game in charge last season and it ended 0-0. I don't think there's any chance of the same result this time around!

Almost a year on from that fixture, Liverpool go to White Hart Lane on the back of last weekend's 2-0 defeat to Burnley in the Premier League, following a 4-3 opening-weekend win at Arsenal. And Jurgen Klopp still has a lot of work to do.

I saw them at Arsenal and there were elements in their game that were fantastic. Their pace, the way they attacked was a joy to watch. But Liverpool are missing a vital element in their midfield.

A lot of the blame when it comes to their defending has been shifted onto Alberto Moreno. He must have thought it was his fault when it was raining the other week. Everyone wanted to point the finger at him.

But there are bigger problems at Liverpool than their left-back - and when they lost to Burnley without him in the team it highlighted the fact they don't have a defensively-minded player in the middle of the park.

I've always said full-backs don't lose you titles. Not having a proper defensive midfielder can.

It's a vital role. They need someone who knows where to be when they haven't got the ball. That's not Jordan Henderson. He's an attacking midfielder. It's not James Milner, either.

Without that player protecting the defence you end up with the kind of 'shock' results we've seen Liverpool experience. The defeat at Burnley, last season's losses to Watford and Newcastle.

At times they're breath-taking going forward. But the balance doesn't seem right between defence and attack. And when the game changes or a goal goes in, they find it very difficult to adapt. They don't have the capability to see a game out. Their only form of defence is attack. It must leave the manager pulling his hair out.

Tottenham actually play in a similar way to Liverpool - but they do have their defensive strength in the middle of their midfield with Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama.

With those two players, Spurs have real power in their side. They've both played centre-back in their careers, so they understand that side of the game. But Tottenham are physically big across the key areas of the pitch now. And that's a real contrast to the past.

When I used to play against them you always felt you could bully them off the ball. They were too nice. But this Tottenham team has a real presence about it and I think they could be a force this year.

I interviewed Harry Kane this week and he was very confident. He was happy that people were talking about all the other teams and not focusing on Spurs but he also felt they have all the attributes to do well. If they can manage their Champions League workload they can have another very good season.

I think they can cause Liverpool big problems on Saturday, too. If Spurs press Liverpool - which they will - and win the ball high up the field they can get at the Reds' defence.

Let's put it this way, I can't see Liverpool keeping a clean sheet!

But then again, there are no guarantees Spurs will keep this Liverpool attack out either. You only have to look at that 20-minute spell Liverpool produced against Arsenal to see how dangerous they can be. That's why it's set up to be a great clash.

I think this one could end up in a draw. But Spurs are a little further down the line in terms of their development at the moment and Liverpool are going to have to be right on their game to get a result.

We have to create enough with our front 4 plus Rose and Walker. I do also think we have an advantage on set pieces with our height, movement, and physicality - I think Toby could get on the scoresheet from a corner. Basically, I think we need a minimum of two goals to get a result in this one. It would be sweet to keep a clean sheet against these ****s but with their pace I just don't see it, especially with Jan being a bit slow to warm up this year.

2-2 is what I would predict, but if our attack can finally click into gear, we will win this.

Be good to get out the traps quickly and be bang on our game. Thought exactly the same as Mr Redknapp alluded to regarding Liverpool looking somewhat flimsy in the screening of their back 4.

A tad harsh maybe because Wanyama has started well, but I'd be more confident with a pairing of Dembele and Dier.

That said, we should have enough with big Vic and Dier to smash that Midfield. Our defence was last season's best so bring it on, of course Lloris' absence means we maybe considered a little weaker than hoped.

I say smash the Midfield but get the ball moving a little quicker in attack and we'll take em' apart.

Liverpool are very hit and miss. If they turn up they will be very dangerous. Especially with Mane at the back.

But their defence looks poor and that new CB they bought looks awful. Hopefully he plays.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a similarly high score like the gooner game. 4-2 us

Think we haven't beaten them in 7 matches- and they're the only team Poch hasn't beaten (with us) bar Middlesbrough (who we haven't even played). So desperate for this run to end.

This is worse than the Goon game for us up here. Absolutely dread it but if we can get a win then happy days.

So looking at it Can,Coutinho and origi are all injured. Sturridge is still good when fit and got a couple midweek so could be a pain but if Coutinho is missing then that's a big plus for us. Henderson also played DM last week and was supposedly awful but looks to be playing there again.

Based on last year's games you have to think this is going to be a tight affair but I have a feeling we are going to win.

Everyone been back training together for a month now and with no injuries and a strong team out I feel that we can contain them and steal a goal or two.

Hoping we match up their midfield as I think man for man we're a better team. 4-4-2 is fine when we're playing a bottom half team at home where we'll dominate possession but for games like this we need to win the high intensity midfield battle in the first 20 mins (Dembelle bossed this game last year and we'll miss his calmess in the middle).

This is one game where we really miss Dembele. I would've been confident going into this had we had a midfield 3 of Dier, Wanyama and Dembele. We simply don't have any other midfielder besides him that can hold the ball and it was fairly obvious seeing our lack of fluency in the past couple games.

I'd be ecstatic if Klopp plays Mane at the back :sneaky:

Coutinho is nailed on to play and have a blinder. Make no mistake.

That said, I'm not terribly worried. That's not to say that I think we'll give them a hiding, but I'm confident we'll come away with the three points. So I'm going for a 2-2 draw.

Looking forward to this game. Although I can't stand Liverpool, I quite like Klopp and think he will turn out to be a very good manager for them.

If Coutinho is out then it is great news for us as he does make them click. I thought Mane was a strange signing and I am not a fan but he seemed to play well against the scum so we need to keep an eye on.

Anyway enough about them. Im watching this game in a bar in Manila with a Liverpool fan, loser buys the beers. Im planning to get very drunk and not spend a penny. COYS.
