Fact is that Son did in fact score the opener. You cannot say if he'd scored the game would have ended 2-1 to Spurs. If Bor. D. had gone 1 up (they scored the next goal), the game could have turned out differently. That goal "lifted" the so-called CL spell off Spurs' shoulders to some extent. And fact is that Son did score.
There were several comments - not just from me - who said that Rose was not missed in this game. Yes, Rose pre-injury was a better player but the extended playing time Davies been having have made him a better player.
You have mentioned it twice now that that build up to Bor. D. was an off-side. I did not have to mention it as I agree with you on that :)
I know it was tactic from Spurs' side to play "defensively." This is the 3rd time I am telling it. If you read the previous posts I am clearly stating that.
Its a pointless argument as if they had all their player fit it might've made no difference to the scoreline, no one can say really.
My only real gripe with your post is the 'outplayed' comment, its completely inaccurate buddy.

I've noticed a lot of write ups of the game insisting that Kane fouled Sahin in the build up to that goal, Sahin has basically admitted he dived to try and win a free kick;

"I could have hit the ball out of play but I was pretty sure he [Kane] was going to look for the contact. So I let myself fall as I felt contact and he [the referee] sadly didn’t give a foul."

This was so obvious but 99 out of 100 the referees fall for it. So happy for once it didn't

Really hate these if's and but's arguments, so pointless

I agree! last year we had injuries and had people saying we were not good enough, this year we play a team with some injuries still like us and we are lucky? ....

It was a great result, no doubt but I won't get carried away - not just yet. I savour the win of course but well aware that Spurs could easily have lost the game if football was "fair".
This game shows the paradox of football, though. Spurs have played Chelski off the park almost every time they met lately but lost both the last 2 games against them. Spurs also outplayed Monaco a Wembley last year in the CL, but lost. This time Spurs were outplayed (37 % vs 63 % in possession) .... yet they won.
And for once Spurs had the ref on their side in key situations. If not, the result could have been different. Kane could easily have had a free-kick against him when he scored his first goal (although Sahin went down very easy) and it was a terrible decision by the linesman to cancel the goal of Aubameyang as it was not even a close off-side call really.
And don't forget that Bor. Dor. missed the following players: Durm, Bartra, Schmelzer, Guerreiro, Weigl, Rode, Reus, Schurrle.
Thus said, I am glad Poch have realised that attacking and ball possession is not always the way to win games and that Spurs seem more tactical shrewd this time around in the CL. Not being favourites - like last season in the CL (when by some Monaco was as a "easy" team to beat) - seem to have helped too.
PS! I big thanks to Ajax. Spurs have 4 former Ajax players: Jan, Toby, Sanchez and Eriksen.

Don't forget the lead up to their first goal was offside.

Personally I don't care who out played who. Its goals that count If I score more goals that the other team then I am the winer. Thats football, as Brucie would say you don't get anything for coming second.

Actually you do get a CL sport - which is more coveted than, say, winning the League Cup ;)

In my view they were excellent in possession in the first half. But our defence was strong and we looked very dangerous when in attack.

2nd half was more even in possession but we were even more dangerous in attack.

The officials were not bias but they got a lot wrong. Sissoko was at least 5 yards offside and he was let go. This might have been out of sympathy.

Their player was offside in the build-up to their first but Aubemayang's goals was clearly onside.

Overall through our defensive performance and how threatening we were in attack meant we deserved the win.

Dortmund were better in possession in midfield though.
thank you, mate
