Toby's challenge after the saved penalty.... Brilliant. They were about to score. Props to Hugo but also to Toby.

Just seen MotD and Alan Shearer pointing out that Yan encroached at the penalty to be able to intercept Iwobi's ball to Abamayang and completely missed the fact that iwobi had encroached to be able to get to the ball.

Shearer is a boring twat. I wish they would replace him with someone who actually has a couple of brain cells to rub together.

Never understood why he is rated so highly by so many. He is a mistake waiting to happen.
He's 22 ffs. Young players need time, especially CB. Whilst that was a silly mistake, young players are susceptible to having more off days than most
His passing have always been awful

Which is why Jose Mourinho targeted him in the Europa Cup final

What do our scouts see in him and that other rash nutter Aurier I have no idea

But it really worries me this is the sort of quality that they come up with when it comes to replacing Aldereweld Ericksen Rose and Vertonghen
Just go ahead and forget about all the excellent games he's had for us.

He's 22 ffs and will make mistakes from time to time.

His passing is fine.

Didn't watch it, did any of them mention Xhaka's tackle on Kane first half? The studs up on back of his leg one? Was it even shown in the highlights?

Well we have rode our luck by not getting midfield replacements in is more my point. Dier is injured, okay so we have Wanyama who it seems clear can't be relied upon anymore. Winks injured and we can't replace him with Dembele because he was sold to China and we brought nobody in to replace him. In my opinion having been relying upon a midfield of Sissoko, Winks, Dier, Dembele and Wanyama was a huge risk to take, we then doubled down on that risk selling Dembele. In my opinion knowing in Jan that Dier had to have surgery, we have rode our luck being dependant on Winks/Sissoko seeing us through the season.

I get what you're saying about Winks/Dier but I hope you can see what I'm saying also. We should have options to cover them and a 1 legged Wanyama is not that.
You're right, this is what it ultimately comes down to. We all said it last summer, any injuries and we are struggling.

Liverpool had Henderson, Keita, Wijnaldum, Milner and Oxlade Chamberlain (injured) but still brought in Fabinho.

The club planned poorly and made a real hash of targeting and bringing in players.

Not until Poch mentioned it in the post match interview, when questioned on Kane being offside for the pen.

Was more of a red than Torreria's. Amazes me how that has barely been picked up anywhere. Not going for the ball, was trying to hurt Kane.

I thought that was clever of Pochettino, changed the whole direction of the interview and spilled over to the pundit discussion afterwards.

How is it nonsense? if Kane hits an early shot, or simply doesnt lose the ball in a really promising position, then we dont get countered on, how can you not see that? you might not agree with it, but its not nonsense, its what happened.

Because it's a different phase of play, just like whenever we lose the ball we setup in a shape or at least try to setup in a way to prevent a goal so trying to directly attribute a goal we conceded to a players losing a ball in their box when we had opportunities to deal with it is just a load of crap.

Also your opinion hardly counts since you tried to tell me Rose was the best left back in world football

Irrelevant and incorrect but you crack on trying to score cheap points if it makes you feel better.

Dreaming. Our defensive record with and without him are chalk and cheese. He gives away a big chance in EVERY single game with avoidable mistakes. Yesterday he gave 2.

Yeah loads of people spent the summer saying how fucking mental it was we weren't signing a midfielder especially with the fatigue from most of players going deep in the world cup. It's not then bad luck that those things became a major issue, it was a glowing red problem.

I was thinking the exact same thing but then they started wanging on about the amount of encroachment as if the rules allow minor encroachment. Idiots.

If Jan is at fault then so is Iwobi and of course there is the small fact that it was never a penalty.

My opinion is that they should change the rule to that of shoot outs i.e the ball goes dead after the kick.

I see your point, however. The reason the ball goes dead after the kick in a shoot-out, is because the game has ended. In situations like yesterday, the game is still ongoing, so, just like with a throwing, corner or freekick, as soon as the ball is struck, it's on the field of play and is fair game for everyone.

This is what gets me the most, the uproar about encroachment on a penalty which was a fucking dive. Did they say it was a dive?
