Tottenham are lining up moves to sign three Portuguese internationals this summer, one of whom is Southampton right-back Cedric Soares.

I wouldn't really want him because he'd be quite expensive, even if the Saints go down & he's not been spectacular since being there. Ryan Bertrand has been better, but at his age & the cost, it wouldn't really be feasible.

I've seen Fulham a few times this season & our old trainee, Ryan Fredericks has looked good; he's incredibly fast with good stamina & he's been solidly reliable without being spectacular. Andy Robertson has been exactly that for Liverpool & he's been one of their standout performers. A full-back doesn't have to be the 'Pele of full-backs' to be good for us, just very dependable & incredibly athletic, plus he's available on a free-transfer.

Unless we decide to ditch one of Aurier & Trippier, its a non-story in any case. The speed we used to have in the full-back areas has dried up; its not until now that I realised how much we've really missed Walker & a fit Danny Rose.

But we would be able to sing nice one Cedric nice one son so it's worth doing it for that alone.

'Mauricio Pochetten is also said to be lining up moves for two other Portuguese internationals; Gelson Martins from Sporting Lisbon and Ruben Neves from Wolves.'

Come on guys, he used to live down in Southampton. You must have written his name hundreds of times.

Yeah but then the writer remembered he still hates him so just gave up on his name.

Ideally we'd have Pereira and KWP as back up IMO. We don't need Soares, we don't need and wouldn't get Martins and Neves is a Mendes player so he's out as well.
They are reporting here in Portugal that we have enquired about Gelson. However with Lucas I really can't see the need for Gelson, unless we are planning on ditching Sonny. Gelson is much more skilful but Sonny is far more prolific.

I just can't imagine us blowing a huge part of our kitty when we have far more pressing concerns (CM)

Malcom would be a better choice imo....but yep we need to upgrade our wingbacks. Pochettinho's best style of play revoles around a solid block midfield and athletic powerful wingback. So when we get bus parking teams we can switch play from narrow to overlapping.

The thing about Aurier's is that he is a talented player, has played well, but has a tendency to get too close in the area whereas he needs to do nothing except shut down space. Maybe, he thinks that in England tackling is everything. I think that Pochettino will sort him out. What bothers me is that he's stopped taking on players, so doesn't offer anything above Trippier.

He's not an upgrade, that's for sure.
I see no reason to bring in Soares, he is no better than Aurier or Trippier. Even if we sold one of them in the summer we still we would be better off letting KWP be the #2 RB than bringing in Soares. LB is a greater concern as Rose has been unable to regain his form and may be out the door before next season

I know everyone is saying how Poch can develop players, but the question is whether he's going to be here next season or the one beyond that.
