Branthwaite is the obvious answer at LCB. Budget wise he won’t be as attractive as tosin obviously.
calafiori may well be the ideal option as he will potentially solve two issues, being able to play both LCB and inverted lb, as well as probably costing half as much.
have to find a HG solution elsewhere though

I don't get this thing about left and right CB suddenly. I've said this before but plenty of great CB pairings have been both right footed. Vidic/Ferdinand, Terry/Carvalho, Nesta/Cannavaro, Puyol/Pique, and plenty of others. Because Dragusin had one bad game on the left side, suddenly we need 2 solid left footed CBs, which basically no other club has? We certainly shouldn't be ruling out a player's potential value to us just because they are a right footed player.

It's a lazy argument imo. Now maybe he's only ever played on the right side of a pairing. Or maybe his left foot is ridiculously weak and so maybe it's not wrong to pigeon-hole him as an exclusively right sided CB. But those aren't the arguments I'm seeing and as far as I'm aware neither is true.

You’re misrepresenting what I said. My point has nothing to do with what foot they use and more about how comfortable the player is in the role.

Having a player who is confortable passing out from LCB is fundamental to how we play out from the back. If we shoe horn a player in there it will be detrimental to our effectiveness.

Then I think you're being a bit unrealistic. A player who is comfortable passing out from LCB who also has the defensive attributes to play in a high line like we want to play would be highly sought after and wouldn't be coming to be 4th choice on our bench.

We're talking about getting someone for free who can do a job when our better players are out injured, or in Europa league and cup games. Adarabioyo is a decent defender with good recovery pace. That's why we're looking at him I imagine. I really doubt the fact that he's mainly played on the right side is a deal breaker at all.

Going by that logic it’s better to just keep Davies as a LCB. Rather than sign a defender who won’t be much better than Davies defensively but much more limited on the ball from LCB.

Could be but if we want to challenge on all fronts next season we're going to need a bigger squad especially in defense. And he's a very different profile than Davies. If we make it all the way through the Europa league next season that could be as many as 17 extra games, plus FA cup and league cup games in addition to the 38 premier league games. So it's a season that could be 65-70 games in a year when players will be playing in the Euros and Copa America in the summer. We'll need serious depth to be able to rotate.

I think it’s crazy that some of you are suggesting dorrington and Phillips over PL ready players. Although prospects, they haven’t even tasted prem level football. Loan experience certainly needed first.

He plays right centreback though?

We saw how that restricted us when Dragusin played there. Surely we need to target a player who is comfortable at LCB or just keep Ben Davies as an option instead.
I’d go for as close to VDV as possible and make sure it’s a player who can cover LB well in Udogie’s absence. Davies has done a job at CB but he’s not the LB we need.

Phillips can’t even get a regular spot for Plymouth Argyle. No way he’s ready to play in the premier league yet.

People always over inflate expectations for youth players, sometimes to an absurd degree. Not to mention that sitting on our bench isn’t going to do a young players development any good, they need good loans.

What I will say is, if we do go for a CB we should be looking at the calofiori or whatever his name is. Good player, the right cover to replace Davies and is going to be class.
