I'm not as convinced as most of you that we need to do something upfront, but if Llorente is likely to leave either now or in the summer, then we will need a ST at some point.

CM we have real issues.

We can make the Kane situation work I think.

This is very much where i am on this. We do need to add to our frontline in terms of competition and cover - versatility being key here in terms of playing across the front, something which Llorente can't do and him leaving (at some point) does free up space.

As per your last couple of points - i absolutely think the club feel that we can work without Kane and someone like Werner being in the mix is more down to a player we know is good, MAYBE being available than an urgent need to cover Kane's injury.

CM is still 100% the place we need to strengthen regardless. I'm presume we're waiting on similar star alignment in a player we actually 100% want, who can make an impact and is available at the right money, so this makes it pretty unlikely in Jan but i live in skeptical hope.

I'd prefer Icardi
If only...

As many have said Timo Werner is a player we've been linked with for a while and would be a, "just what the doctor ordered", type buy. For now, however, all we can do is stick to the "fluids" as Levy and Poch run their own diagnostics...

Let's say we do end up pulling this off, Long term this situation might have been a blessing in disguise because Levy would have acted and in doing so backed Poch. big IF though.

Will need movement from both sides to happen imo.

Interesting. Now's the time to pay silly money to the agent!

This 'greasing of the wheels' does seem to be part and parcel of getting things done. Agents have a very disproportionate say in their client's moves (IMO) and whilst i agree that not overpaying for some middleman is good business sense, it also seems to get us cut out of some potential opportunities. Just a perception perhaps on my part.

These are the kind of signings we need to be making to become a real big boy. He’s absolute quality.

In other words they don't want to sell yet and we don't want to pay enough to convince them it is worth it. You could probably throw in a bit of the player also isn't convinced on being a Kane back up...

That's in no way a dig at your info which I really appreciate more a dig at our recent transfer attempts which all seem to go that way lately...

A classic example of a player we were interested in at stuggart, who many thought “wasn’t good enough”...

Would normally say we have missed the boat, but due to his contract situation, we could do a good deal here...allows us room for a 2 up front option, even maybe a 4-2-4, with an anchoring mid and a ball player in the middle,

Moura - Kane - Werner - Son

Dier - Eriksen

Frightening...

Is there any evidence to suggest the lad would be keen, or even open, to the idea of moving to Spurs? It's one thing to say we're keen on him but if he's got suitors and offers from bigger clubs then he might not even look in our direction

If we are interested in a January transfer, his price has gone up in the last 24 hours......which will make things even more difficult/unlikely.

We have to accept if we want to shop near the top table that we'll need to get an advantage somewhere. Whether it's buy and loan backs or just overpaying on a key target.

Look at Liverpool, Madrid and Chelsea wanted Alisson and they beat them to him, by going hard and greasing wheels.
