The sad thing is that teams like West Ham are now a serious competitor in the transfer market if we aren't prepared to pay the going rate for top talent. With the way we are skimping on signings, they'd probably offer him a better deal than us.

They spent £40m on Anderson in summer, maybe I’m alone but I just can’t envisage us spending 40,50 or 60m on an attacking player. The only way it will happen is if we’ve sold Eriksen and the club feel forced to do so.

Werner is exactly the type of player we should look at, able to play at 9 but also alongside Kane or on wing. Young and fast, he’s perfect for us.

Which west ham are we talking about?

Yes please. Would be perfect after the news today!

Sadly i can't for the life of me see levy pay a huge amount for him, let alone in the January transfer window.

FWIW Gards also mentioned this name as a target on unnamed site today, although it may have been more of wish.

The team that paid £40m for Anderson? I could envisage them paying up for Werner whereas I couldn’t imagine us doing the same.

But you gotta understand transfers are two way. No way would Timo Werner go to west ham.

Can we for once sign a player in front of our rivals?

It's like every single time we target a player, it's always "oh no, PSG are in for him" Or "Barca" Or "City". Now with Werner, it's Bayern.

For once, can we please just get a major deal over the line. Werner would be perfect and would get plenty of time. Having one main striker doesn't work, as we are now seeing with Kane's injury. Werner will get plenty of game time.

Has Bayern written all over him. Will be surprised if he doesn't end up there

and not only that, he'll probably go there on a free transfer when his contract runs out, like 90% of decent players in that league...

His contract runs out same time as Eriksens, yet we think we’ll get him for decent fee but sell Eriksen for good money. Unless I’ve missed a buy out clause, his fee will be in region of what we expect for Eriksen, why would it not be. We always trick ourselves into thinking other clubs players should be priced just right for us to afford, the market has changed. Leipzig got £48m for Keita they’ll want a lot more for Werner.
