What the actual fuck is going on at this club? What is the point of sweating blood and tears to get to this point only to apparently pull up the drawbridge and cease trading.

No one can convince me there is not one, solitary, affordable, obtainable player of sufficient quality to improve our squad out there that we could buy/loan. And if we can't find anyone then that just goes to show what shambles our scouting department is.

And I'm not having this 'stadium debt bollocks either. Future incomes from gate receipts, sponsorship/naming rights, tv and Champions league cover all that (No, I'm not an accountant or privy to our finances) and more.
Never have we had so much cash and so little desire to spend it.

I fear that ENIC have put the club into heavy debt with the bank loans that they have reportedly taken to cover the ever increasing cost of the stadium, therefore there is nada to spend (even for loans), Poch know this and has excepted that he will have to make do, this is a terrible shame as I believe a couple of shrewd signings/loans would have been a massive boost for us.
Yeah this is nonsense brah. Repayments will never be an issue for the club, especially when you consider the chairman’s education and career history. @Trix has stated several times that Poch doesn’t want a couple of make do signings, going so far as to call him AVBesque.

Whilst they’ll get your dick hard, Poch wants the players he has identified and doesn’t want to have to try and move on turd signings 18 months after bringing them in.

I agree but it’s exactly as it has been for so, so long. When have we ever just gone and spent a load of money on anyone where it hasn’t been nicely balanced out by sales? Maybe that time we were in threat of relegation.

I really wish the club would just admit it, that we are, have been and will be operating with a zero net spend aim. However that’s not great when you’re trying to fill a new stadium I guess, thus the vague excuses will continue. It at least would mean more fans enter transfer windows like I do, looking at the sales before even considering us buying anyone.

It will be exactly the same this summer albeit this time we may have cash to spend due to the sales of Eriksen and Toby. Yay.

Kicker sources: Dortmund will not try to sign Timo Werner. The player does not fit Favre's system, and is believed to already have an agreement with Bayern München.

Well what a surprise, Bayern are already all over a deal for him. Another name that can probably be chalked off.

As already mentioned, we most likely need to be looking a tier down.... Haller, Jovic, Pepe, Sarr, Bowen, Malcom etc and hope they develop. Yes we have had our fingers burnt with Janssen but unfortunately that can happen. Once a player has built any kind of reputation, we are way behind in the queue to sign them up.

It's frustrating and can't blame Poch for wanting to pick from the higher tier but really feels as though we have reached an impasse and
the worry is it will soon begin to hurt us.

How In anyone's world is that joined up thinking, business degree or not??

Let's say Toby and Eriksen do leave, it would be in the region of 75million combined at a guess.
In order to replace both those players and be no better off than we are now all of that 75mil would have to be laid out plus a shitload more. And that's before we even talk about additions in other areas, centre mid being the most obvious.

I just can't make sense of that scenario on any level.

Probably just an educated guess but if thats true this has to be a no-brainer. We gotta at least try.

It's a guess mate. Gards does get snippets but he's usually quite explicit when it's something he has been told rather than just opinion.

How does Garda know that will land him? He doesn’t have source in Germany. Seems unlikely he would like so brazenly with a top level spurs source.

Any public statements he’s relying on or do we file this under “dubious”?

The problem will be the turning down paying that asking price, wags and agent fees
This is the only reason he could be turning down Werner, a fee of £50-55m plus juicy signing on and agent fees could end up taking 65m+ out the transfer budget. I could definitely see why Poch wouldn't be prepared to do that given the issues we've got at CM at the moment.

At the minute, I just get a funny feeling that no signings could cost us £65m further down the line. CL must be in the stadium budgeting. (Inevitable for some maybe) 'ambitious' player departures could follow. Time to act for me. Whoever it is that Poch wants, go get em.
Get a striker talent now and an equal stature CM in the summer.

£50m for Eriksen? Even with a year left that's laughable.
