THST asked whether THFC would consider organising a testimonial for Michael Dawson. This is something we’re pleased to report is being discussed
Good.

What interests me is that the DOF is involved with finding players, alot of us thought that he just did the deal side, and that the last say is by Poch. If this is to be believed then poch chose every one of his summer signings, not this transfer committee.

Interesting, I think it is collaborative effort by all in finding players. But sometimes it will not be possible to buy their number one choice due to a number reasons beyond Spurs power. We (fans) are fond of blaming one person for our transfer failings.

Regarding the outstanding CPO on Archway Steel, THFC said all efforts had been made to reach agreement with the Josif family over the past 12 years. Deals had been agreed only for them to be rejected at the last minute.

Payback is a bitch.

We can draw a line under this 'Real Madrid partnership' at long last. As we suspected all along they were dicking us around

Agreed, but it is saying pich has final say so we can't say he didn't want Fazio for example, even if he wanted another first choice

  • THFC confirmed that player recruitment was a collaborative process where the Head Coach would identify the positions where cover was needed. The D of F and scouting team would then provide names from which the Head Coach would make his final choice
Done and dusted, no more smoke and mirrors from fans thinking otherwise.

Our company car policy works in a similar way. We're told to forget any thoughts about Jaguars and Mercedes and left to select something "Reasonably Priced". It's hard not to think of Fazio, Stambouli and Davies in this context. They're serviceable enough I suppose....

However, as far as the "Head Coach making his final choice" goes, this does not say that his final choice is always going to be from a list of players that he considers essential to strengthen/improve the team.
Or in other words; might "his final choice" be from a list of cheaper make-do's presented to him by Management?

The coach selects potential players from an "A" or "B"list that HE wants. It's then up to the DOF to go get.

I think the reality is a list of players is prepared for each position we need to strengthen. The DoF would then try to get them in priority order.

So Poch may get players he has agreed to but they may not be his first choice for any given position.

I want the one third left at the top, and second right midway down the right hand side. Oh and Franco while your at it go get the one left of center..........

So, did Pochetto "want" Fazio; and did he "want" Stambouli?

Yes Sir.

Unless you doubt the Chairman and Boards policy and what they have confirmed at the meeting. Did Poch want them as "first choice" well possibly not but they would both have been on the options list or a "B" target list.

At the end of the day a Club can't always get the player(s) your manager want's but their is always a secondary target. This is usually the policy at any club not just poor old Spurs.
