Thierry Henry: How would former Arsenal and Barcelona forward do at Monaco?

History would seem to indicate that the transformation from player to manager is not an easy one , it will be interesting to see if Thierry can do it where he first began playing. (n)

Not exactly a great start and PSG to play at the weekend....could be a very short managerial appointment methinks....

Agreed, must make him feel like abit of a plonker when he goes back to punditry talking like hes an expert and criticizing clubs, teams and mangers. Its much harder than it looks gooner

With the Russian billionaire owner of Monaco in custody (as of Tuesday) who has the power to give Handball Henry the tin tack ?

Sky sports presenters seem to make shit managers. Maybe they don’t know what they’re talking about.

Many a great player has dipped his toe into trying to manage, it is rare for any to be great as a Manager. Hughes of Man Utd and Wales, was a player who was outstanding. He has found out the hard way that just because he was good as a player, as a manager, though he may be clued up with good ideas and having management skills, it is his players on the pitch not himself. If they are not good enough he is stymied. The best he can hope for is getting the best out of his team. If that is not good enough to stop the team losing, he will get sacked. The odd guy is a success if they get to manage Real Madrid or Barcelona. One of ours, came close to being regarded as top notch (Glen Hoddle) but was never given a top team to lead to glory so we will never know just how good he really was.

The wise ones become football pundits.

Some probably earn more than they ever did as players.
God yeah, especially the older ones like Souness and Hoddle....Id guess they're earning a few multiples of what they ever did when they were playing.
