To be honest it's not really that revolutionary formation-wise when you actually look at it:

It's essentially just a 4-2-3-1 but with the GK inexplicably coming out ahead of the CBs. Doesn't make much sense to me because if it's essentially a 4-2-3-1 with an extra man playing DM (the GK) Then while that extra man may be an advantage, that's surely by far and away overridden by the massive downside that you've essentially got an open goal the entire time so if you lose the ball you're in massive trouble straight away.

Pointless IMO.

Heurelho Gomes must be wishing he were 15 years younger. I can imagine him chomping at the bit to play in midfield.

Love the idea Thiago, but we're going to see a lot of Beckham-esque own half wondergoals.

I believe it's been misquoted. From what I've heard and seen, he actually means a 2-7-2 from left to right which is essentially a 4-3-3

Looks like the old Italian 4-2-2-2 but with a CF & SS instead of a RCF & LCF

Think Juventus back with Trezeguet (CF) & Del Piero (SS) with Nedved (LAM), Zidane(LCM), Conte(RCM), Camouranesi(RAM) the 2 rows of 2 the the 2 CBS with 2 WBs and an aggressive goalie.

I don't think it's all that new or inspired tbh

Agree. The only new bit is having the keeper come out dangerously far, which just makes no sense to me as the risk far outweighs the potential reward. Like I said in my other post, when you look at it, if you ignore the GK it's just a 4-2-3-1. Not sure what all the fuss is about.

It’s a troll article and picture by the sun. GK does not literally play in midfield. Look at his words.

« The goalkeeper counts as one of the midfield seven. For me, the attacker is the first defender and the goalkeeper is the first attacker.

“The goalkeeper starts the play, with his feet and the attackers are the first to put pressure to recover the ball. »
