Anyone else done the survey yet?
I got an email this afternoon so thought I'd take part
It's just a bunch of questions about the use of the Y word

Anyone going to stop using it or already not using it?
I still think it's a harmless word never used to offend anyone
So I have stuck by the word with my answers

I believe also that the word is not that bad as I know at least two jewish spurs supporters who also sing along with "yid army"
Where I myself draw the line is the songs with swearing and the word paedophile as in the Wenger song as I believe it shows our supporters in a bad light and therefore the club. I also would not join in the "stand up if you hate Arsenal" or indeed any other club as it shows us supporters as petty and probably jealous and its the only way of having a pop at the opposition I am sure someone could come up with some witty songs that do not offend but get across our view as fans of spurs.

I'm not Jewish, it's not my word to 'reclaim' and i don't get to decide if it's offensive or not just because i want to join in some singing.

It is pure ignorance to believe that spurs fans chanting yid army causes or brings on opposing fans singing about gassing jews in the grounds or on the tube. That is absolving blame from the anti semites and instead blaming the victims. It is offensive to believe that and part of the reason why anti semitism is still a massive problem.

If spurs fans stopped chanting the y word, you really believe the anti semitism will stop? I got news for you, it will not.

that time of year again huh.
It's the first time since 2013 they've done this. I can't see anything different in the answers since then though. I think it's just to cover ourselves but we'll still chant it anyway.

100% and in fact they were chanting those things before we started using the word and that's the whole reason we started using the word in the first place.

I have done the survey too.
It doesn’t matter if we sing the Y word or not, it will not stop the likes of Chelsea or West Ham signing the anti Semitic songs they do and will most probably give them more songs to sing.

It was interesting the way they structured that survey. If anything it felt positioned to get a specific outcome from respondents.

I am totally against implementation of motions that absolve the personal responsibility of grown adults - it’s such a dangerous game to play, especially with racism.

This idea that Spurs fans not identifying as the Yid Army will suddenly bring to a halt the racism of the knuckle-draggers is an absolute farce. There are some very deep social and - at this moment in time - hefty political issues which cause a person to behave like some of those Chelsea and West Ham fans.

Like always though, the talking heads and powers that be will present some bullshit simplistic ‘solution’ to a problem that can never be solved in such a way.

I only strongly agreed with one thing on the survey - and it was a quote lifted from my own Twitter account... other than that, it was hugely positioned to get a certain outcome..

I did feel that the outcome they are searching for is a way to ban the use of the term in the ground. And i feel that will only serve to outrage spurs fans even more when we’re inevitably going to be subject to anti semitic abuse at the ground, at away grounds and on the tubes and the overground. Yid Army is not the cause of anti semitism toward us. And it seems thats what the quotes the club used in the survey believe, thereby making me feel the club believe that as well.

We literally had the police threaten us all with arrest. A few people made examples of and dragged through the legal system for months. All the "Very Sensible Moderate" people lined up against us. And all it did was make the chants louder than ever. If the club are actually foolish enough to try that it might, in fairness, be the best thing they've ever done for the atmosphere, because you can guarentee that they'd be reminded very clearly and very often which army we belong to and the thing we love most.

It's ok, they only have another 26000 fans to try and control now too. I still think the more they push to ban the word the more we'll use it.

Yids calling themselves 'Yids'
or non yids chanting in sympathy with Yids
and our historical base and history
is anti anti semitic.

I'm from a Jewish background
and I wouldn't chant it
for aesthetic reasons
but I defend the right of Spurs fans so to do.

It's a pre-emptive strike against anti-semitism.
and a call to collective virtual arms.

I never received this survey, surely I'm the targeted audience for this. Seeing as I'm both a Spurs fan and Jewish.
