I have no idea but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we bought one type of player instead of the other. Like I said, maybe, maybe not. We'll see.
Ok now I am totally confused - is this ITK discussion? It sounds a lot like speculation? I am just never sure what is ok to post in this thread anymore.

The itk seems to suggest we still are looking for two more lets hope this is still the case as it would complete the squad.
The only thing being i cant see us spending around 40-50 million to do so,so it must be a loan signing and possibly a cheaper option from abroad.

I suspect at one of our more attacking players they won't do any Lamela deal until they know we have our striker secured, particularly as Poch has said Lamela can play there (which I disagree with but anyway...)

Also no Wanyama in the Southampton squad today

I thought you followed this thread.

What deadline?

Who: Grey Fox
When: 25th August
Where: SC

Been told a 3rd bid will go in for Beriniho possibly with a loan going the other way as a sweetener. We want it wrapped up by Friday or we will move on.

Good amount of noise when Son was arriving. Seems very quiet generally now. If we had something imminent, you'd think we'd be hearing something. I'd be surprised if we pull in anything more than a loan striker. DM could be dead now Dier is staking a claim.

The ITK around Son didn't really start until things must've been beyond the medical stage as he was signed the next day

I think as we are getting so close to the deadline we might be trying to keep things quiet. Especially if we are in for Witsel. The fear of a Willian would be strong on that one...

There's a fair amount of smoke and mirrors regarding our dealings this summer, in a way i'm happy that we are doing things on the downlow but giving out smoke signals elsewhere..

Agree- stories hit this forum at 10.30 on Thursday, and we announced the following morning. Things will move really quickly in the next two days I'd imagine

I'm sure this is the case. An article in The Independant this morning quote football agent Martin Schoot and he states how quick Chelsea are in transfer dealings - like a lightning bolt, compared to United who always need to get the green light from the Glazers at each step.

Chelsea are hurting and it wouldn't be the first time they've stepped in at the last moment. Mind you, agents seem to have verbal diarrhoea so keeping anything quiet for long is unlikely.

Chelsea move quickly because they simply hurl money at whoever they want. Abramovich likes new toys - wish I could sell my car to him. He could have my 10 yr old BMW for £25k.

I thought son was mentioned in the cabbages conundrum a month ago no?

Son was suggested by several posters as the answer to "Cabbages" (*shudders*) but he wasn't. At around that time, however, his name was told by JJ to Rob and A&C as someone we were working on and very interested in. And low, it came to pass (and shoot).

On a semi-related note, I can't shake from my mind that "German Trip" we went on in mid-summer. We thought at the time it was Werner, Kramer and Bender only, and I'm sure they were our top targets. But things change and we could well have been looking or even meeting with other options. Plus, the signing of Son will have raised our profile nicely for German-based players and teams.

Entirely speculation on my part but I can very much see one of our final acquisitions this summer coming from Germany. Makes sense on several levels.
