Posturing from Saints, nowt more

This time next year he will be entering the final year of his contract, they will be lucky to get £12m for him then

Someone offers £25m or close they would deal imho

They'll bite your hand off for 15 come January

Would rather us get 2 15m quality players than spend 30 on MS. He is worth half that amount IMO

So ITK says Southampton want £30 million for Schneiderlin. That will end our interest once and for all then

What I didn't get was the ITK saying "unless MS hands in a transfer request". Surely the fact that he has publicly stated he wants to leave solves that issue? If all that stood between him leaving or not he would have handed it in ages ago.

Bollocks is he. Show me a player available for £15m that offers what MS does?

And why would him handing in a transfer request change the price?

I expect in the weird world of football money, handing in a transfer request would mean he loses a ton of money, some sort of loyalty bonus or something. As you said he's openly said he wants to move to a CL team so what difference does it make if he writes it on a piece of paper or not. Must be something contractual revolving around money for sure

And why would him handing in a transfer request change the price?

If he makes it clear that he wants to leave then they may realise that they are better off selling than keeping a player who doesn't want to stay. If there aren't any other suitors at that stage then the price would drop.

Not a sure thing by any means but could help.

Great post on COYS quoting GG

From 'AberYid' via GG:

"I don't especially want to reveal names but I'm fairly decent mates with a footballer in a Premier League squad.

That player had some friends around his pad last night, and I was one of them. There were 7 other well known footballers there, one of whom plays for Spurs.

We all talked and a lot of interesting things were said, but obviously I was interested in what the Spurs player knew.

So, here are some tidbits.

Lloris, Kane and Vertonghen will be our captains next season.
Nabil Bentaleb is unreal in training and is now better paid than Kane, Vertonghen, and a few other big names.
DeAndre Yedlin is actually quite good in training, but it took him 3 months or so to get used to the pace as apparently Sounders training was tinkle poor by comparison.
Stambouli wasn't actually part of a clique causing trouble. He hung out with them because he's French and Hugo is a bit insular.
Jesus Perez and Poch are a hilarious double act, and D'Agostino is a bit of a tough bounder with the players.
No-one at the club likes Kaboul, but they all respectED him hence electing him captain last season.
Everyone knows the club want Schneiderlin. This is why Dembele wants reassurances.
Soldado is an absolute beast in training and never misses. The club are desperate for him to succeed - and noone can figure out what's wrong.
Jan Vertonghen is the most popular player in the squad - the Alderweireld deal was in part to improve the club and in part to keep Vertonghen happy (he's not been happy with his CB partners)

And one of the players there is a Soton player, who said that Schneiderlin doesn't want to move to United: because he wants to play 38 games in a season, not be one of 6 or 7 top class midfielders.
He misses Pochettino and his training methods, and he wants to move to London.
The Soton player told me that Schneiderlin will be a Spurs player."

£30 large is a big number indeed for, admittedly, a very good fit for us.

Will MS kick up a fuss and get a big discount? Didn't really work that well for Citeh for that Sterling fella but MS's contract situation puts us in a much better position.

All down to United now. At least we're higher up in the food chain than Everton who are worrying about tertiary transfer knock-on effects with us and McC.

It's ITK like that we all wish we had. Thank you AberYid

trix on aberyids info: I have been told all along MS still would come regardless of those [CL] comments. That said he has better options now, and the fee is way too high.
Some of that post fits with stuff I have heard, other bits are polar opposite.

Love this kind of info. Reckon the bottom bit is wishful more than anything. He'd sign for Utd once they agreed a fee and showed him the wages they can offer.

Reckon the player was Chadli btw.

Interesting!

Although i'm questioning a couple of bits:
1) We shelled out on a player to make Verts happy? Really? Can't imagine it would be general knowledge if so to avoid pissing off the other CBs and causing ructions
2) If MS is so keen to join us, why has he publically said he only wants to join a champions league club?
