I mean what I felt was that, I was disappointed that Levy didnt get the players Poch wanted and whilst I agree with the notion of not signing a player for the sake of it, I'm amazed that Levy couldn't land a single target in the world of football that would help Poch. Also didn't help the feeling that Alder and Mousa were going to be gone and the fact they've be integrated changes things significantly.

My disappointment made me feel concerned that Poch wasn't getting backed and when you have one of the most incredible young managers in world football and with the likes of Madrid and United needing a long term manager to steer their ships that he would be open to going to one of them. I felt in terms of what we could achieve this season was that it's unlikely we can compete with City and Liverpool this season for the title where I feel maybe two signings would give us a great chance. Then people react as if those concerns are "hysteria" where as I see them as pragmatic.

I'd love for the manager and players to go beyond my expectations of them and feel it would be asking a lot but I want to take each game as it comes rather than be reactionary either positively or negatively especially with a new stadium to have to deal getting to grips with. I'm always waiting to see whether we get to the domestic semi finals or a champs league knockout tie to see whether we have taken the next step within the squad or needed some additional quality, not a game vs a united team who are falling apart.
You have spoken cogently and fairly. FWIW I don’t think you are hysterical. People can reasonably disagree and I think that’s what we’re doing.

I don’t think everyone has been as measured as you are being now.

I agree, except for the notion that suggests you or I knew/know:

a) That Poch wanted anyone that was obtainable for a price;
b) That Poch didn't veto obtainable signings that would improve the squad, but were not wanted by him.

I prefer the pragmatic approach of saying that everyone tried, but the improvements we wanted were not possible.

No one does themselves any favours by harbouring hostility or a lack of faith in the board. It changes nothing, and only serves to sour your enjoyment of supporting the team (unless there's a positive to thinking the worst of Levy and co?).

You know, you're right, I must admit I probably had the ITK in my mind when worrying about who fucked up what and that's probably not smart if you want to be pragmatic you need to work on facts. My one concern would be about Poch saying we need to get people in early but I truly believe that when Poch said about being brave it was about not signing option B's and biding our team and risking upsetting fans who are transfer hungry for transfers sake.

Personally I was happy we didn't go higher for Grealish, I was keen to see what Poch could do with him but I didn't want us overspending on what felt like an option B and I hope either in Jan or next summer we are rewarded for not buying for the sake of it.

I've just found out Everton signed Bernard for free (bit slow realising!). How have we not been all over that?! Especially after extensive attempts previously. Sad about that one.

Far more eloquently put than I’ve ever managed to.

Why should we be all over it? We have too many non-homegrown players as it is. Maybe Poch doesn't want him? Maybe he wants more fees + wages that we deem reasonable? Maybe we don't want game time taken away from Moura? Who knows. We don't have to be in for every player another team signs.

Because people always use the Ahhh well he's better than Sissoko rule when it comes to new players.

Because he always looked a quality player and could improve our squad. We were in for him before with good reason and yes we don't have to be in for every player another team signs, when did I even say that? I think there were a few opportunities such as Bernard or Shaqiri that would have given some improvement to our squad and not broken the bank.

Neither of those two players would have ever played ahead of Son, Moura, Eriksen or Dele and given how little they work and how much he works, not Lamela either.

They would add to the SQUAD. Maybe starting with sub appearances but it's not beyond the realms of possibility they could impress over time as others have. Giving options for differing opponents and having the ability to cover inevitable injuries. You'd say Moura wouldn't start ahead of others not long ago, yet he is impressing now. Poch might get them on board and willing to be working harder. The same for any new players. I just thought they were attainable options that could be worthwhile.

Disagree with you on this!

He was asking for ridiculous wages that may have made him top earner over Kane.
As we were unable to shift anyone who would you put on the bench for him!
How long before he actually started a game as Poch has his own embedding in process!
And it's only been 3 games!!

Because he is on ridiculous wages and they paid him big signing on fee

Oh I should've guessed about the wages and signing on feeo_O it's a worrying trend with premier league teams massively overpaying players that will make signing players and getting new contracts signed all the harder.
