Right, here's the thread I promised you.

I'm typing this out quickly so forgive the randomness of it, I have other things to do :D

Here we go..........

I can't see how this transfer window cannot be of some concern to everyone. This "It's difficult" stuff is and isn't right in equal measure. I'm pretty sure we could have and should have signed at least someone who's an improvement on one or two of our squad 'fillers' but I get that signing someone who'd walk straight into the team isn't as simple as we'd like to think, as much as we'd like to believe otherwise. But hey, at least improving on the 'squad', you'd think that was at least achievable, right? So "difficult to sign a top top traffic" player, yes, maybe. But to N'improve on the squad? Nah. That dawg don't hunt as some of our colonial members might say.

Personally, I think Levy fucked up.

He fucked up by voting for the window to close early and failed to see the consequences of that. He found himself in danger of being 'Levy'd' himself. I have no idea if the result of the vote would have been different if he'd voted against it, but the fact that he voted for it shows a short (hehe) sightedness on his part and for that he should have rotten tomatoes thrown at him and firecrackers stuffed up his pert butthole and lit.

He should have known exactly what he was voting for, exactly what the consequences might be and devised a strategy to deal with that and then acted accordingly. For a man in charge of a multi-squillion pounds football club, a man known for his shrewdness, that's poor.

He fucked up by (in some cases) waiting and before he knew it, the realisation that the way transfers are being done now has changed. The window closing later in much of Europe sodomised the club and Levy's plans with it.

Not his finest hour by any stretch of the imagination.

For me, it's fair to criticise him for this, I don't think its about having or not having the money I just think we didn't go about it right and we could certainly have done better.

I also think this not signing a player is going to be a recurring theme this season, it's going to come back and bite here on SC every time we have a few bad results.

Do I want him out? I'm not a massive fan of how he does transfer business but I don't think I do, although at some point I do think he's going to have to either shit or get off the pot

Anyway, if you're here to stick the boot in, here's your thread, fill your boots, I'm sure the battle between the doubters and the BSoDL will be as epic as always :D

I'm sorry, I can't remember the cryptics that need answers given right now, as always we did our best, acted in good faith and I hope you enjoyed the Transfer Forums.

I'm ok with this only if Poch is. Which i seriously doubt.

Not signing anyone now is not an end of the world, but things can fuck up really easily now. And if we're gonna have different manager two days before the first game of the next season, I know some dwarfy baldy to blame.

No glossy new signings like we all wanted, but at least this shitshow is all over and we can look forward to watching some actual football. If there's a chance we can mend relations with Toby to the point he can sign a new contract, then the team can still be a force to be reckoned with and we will be in a better shape than last year

To coin a phrase the media use, that I personally hate, but here it’s entirely appropriate,

Daniel Levy bottled it, plain and simple.

I don't even think Randy Jackson would say this

Glad we didn’t buy anyone just for the sake of buying, but I am really wondering how it all went down and what this means for Pochettino long term.

Would be interesting to know what went on behind closed doors this window.

I'm actually more excited for the season than I would be if we had done our usual of 2 or 3 new signings.

I love our squad and have huge hopes for it over the next few years.

Can't wait to see how our young team does now that they are a year older and stronger and with some very successful world cup experiences under their belts.

Someone mentioned the PL transfer window closing early as a “one off”, is this correct?

Now all is said and (not) done, credit to you, @Rob , the mods (too many to mention) and our house ITK's for the ride and despite the outcome another brilliant transfer window on SC. A donation coming and look forward to the epic match day threads.

Worst part is I doubt we'd see any roll over investment into future windows.

Only silver lining is we didn't sell Toby to yanited or buy dead wood.

Eriksen contract better be coming or we might be fucked

i do wonder how long are we going to have to overachieve for before all the ambition shown in developing the clubs infrastructure going to be matched with serious investment to the playing squad. not sure if it'll happen under these owners
