ok so our squad wasn't good enough last year to mount a serious challenge for domestic trophy. We haven't improved that squad and moving into a new stadium. Could be a serious risk to the progression of this club.

I’m sure the club have already got wind of how pissed of the fans are. We’ve created a potential psychological hoodoo and low morale for ourselves with the media pundits for no reason. This could have been avoided with just one signing.

Can we finally stop this whole “Levy is a brilliant businessman” and “Levy is a fan like us” nonsense. It should be abundantly clear from the last 3 summer windows that a) he isn’t brilliant at anything and b) all he cares about is milking us fans to allow ENIC to invest in capital projects. ENIC’s end game is the sale of the club for a huge profit. They are now in Kroenke territory where the valuation isn’t influenced by winnng things but just by qualifying for CL. Sadly because of the £2bn value they have we aren’t going to be bought by an oligarch or a sheikh that can lavish money on us, even ignoring FFP, we are more likely to be bought by a US private equity firm that leverages us to the hilt and milks us even more.

Daniel Levy is the Arsene Wenger of chairmen, good for a while, did some ground breaking stuff but now clearly past his sell by date.

This is my issue with those eager for a buy out. It's hard to imagine if anyone who stumps up the £2bn is likely to be the type to splash the cash on transfers.

Most of the money clubs in this country were bought in a dire state. Chelsea were on the verge of financial ruin. I think Ambramovich's total outlay on Chelsea (aside from their own stadium) in his whole tenure is likely less than our asking price!

Always knew I liked you (y)

Tell you what, if after all this Toby signs on then fuck me, much as the window was cocked up, baldy will have played a blinder there!
I'd rather see Eriksen's new deal, and Dele's new deal, and Dier's new deal, and an extension for Vertonghen - before a new deal for Toby.

I may be reading too much into Poch's words but it seems like he's sarcastically saying "Sure, this is what I meant bravery."

you're reading too much into it. he specifically says he isnt being sarcastic:

"I don't want to be sarcastic and ironic. What the club is doing, is showing, it is so brave"

We know what happened with a Grealish, but the non-deal which baffles me is Zaha. We were told that two clubs - us and Chelsea - had deals agreed, and the player would choose.

Have any ITKs shed any light on how we fucked that one up?
Grealish doesn't baffle you?

When I posted the above I hadn’t seen the quotes that broke this evening.

Poch:

"What the club is doing is showing it is so brave," he offered. "Building a new training ground, finishing this summer the (player's) lodge was a massive investment.
"Building a stadium that is nearly £1bn. That is true, don't believe in £400m, that is the truth. Then with Brexit it's worse because the cost is 30 per cent more. That is a drama, I feel sorry for the English people.
"For me [that] is to be brave. Of course maybe in the mind of everyone they will say, 'Oh Tottenham didn't sign', but to sign for the sake of signing?
Absolute spin to not show disillusion to the public.

Grealish would have been the perfect signing for us this window. I still think/ hope we get him in January or next summer as I think he oozes Tottenham and what Pochettino is trying to build

Yeah I keep thinking the same, surely they must’ve have known the backlash would be bad!?

I’m not really sure how they deal with it either, do they stay quiet and hope it blows over? Anounce contract extensions? Release a statement?

I can’t really remember a time when this many fans were this angry

I’m kind of excited to see what Poch can get out of Martial and Rashford at UTD next season.

Anyone thinking that Poch is “happy” is seriously delusional. The January window will be much the same, information leaked to the right people and feed to the masses a wave of hope and then the same lines about no value in January. Poch is a classy guy so I expect he’ll finish out the season before going to UTD, we’re going to look back on this transfer window as a real watershed moment.

If the issue is the market being crazy because of the early close and we can’t sell players then all that can be fixed in the remainder of the European window. Ship out Janssen et al and agree purchases now for January. Anyone expect that to happen ? Hell no because it is all excuses, all to cover up our lack of funds due to us not getting a naming sponsor. It’s really annoying me now how Levy has Poch trotting out the party line on stadium cost. Does anyone really believe the stadium is costing £1bn or that costs have gone up 30% due to Brexit ? A 5 y/o can pick holes in that. The stadium is costing about £400m the rest of the cost is on ancillary building projects, all of which are presumably only being built because they are supposed to be profitable and should be financed on a standalone basis. Building inflation has been about 5% post Brexit suggesting it is 30% is to suggest all the materials are coming from the EU and all the workers are paid in Euro. Just utter nonsense. I hate being taken for a mug and right now Levy is taking us all for mugs.

Brave - you know what would be brave ? Levy in a room with a bunch of season ticket holders immediately after this window closed. He might not get out alive.

I feel like Levy over reached himself this window trying to manage stadium and transfers, plus if clubs are fed up with dealing with him then we need someone else in to deal with transfers (or closing them) which would be a DOF (give it whatever fancy title you like) but how do you do that when your manager doesn't want a DOF?

Assuming Poch isn't livid and doesn't leave next summer for that question to be relevant?

Do we still do transfers by committee?

Sounds dramatic, but you’re not wrong, and we forget this window isn’t over yet.

If Barcelona came in with £75M for Eriksen before August 31st, I think Levy would take it, and I think the player would go.

And at that point, it’s all over IMO.

We can afford to lose Alli, but we can’t afford to lose Eriksen, he’s the one who makes it all work. We should have had him tied down to a new contract months ago. Instead we’re asking him to commit to a club whose board apparently have a serious lack of ambition.

Yep, that’s how fucking precarious this is right now. As @Stoof would say, man the escape goats.

However, I’m several pints in now and It’s not all bad, I’ve supported spurs for 28 years and to quote the great Harry Redknapp ‘we’ve never had it so good’

On the plus side, a starting 11 of:

Hugo
Tripps - Sanchez - Verts - Davies
Dier
Eriksen - Dele
Son - Kane - Moura
Or:

Hugo

Toby - Sanchez - Jan
Tripps - Dier - Dele - Davies
Son - Eriksen
Kane
On form, beats most of what the PL and Europe has to offer.

When the dust settles I am sure we’ll, slightly hesitantly, be grateful we’ve retained the best manager we’ve had since the sixties, still got got the best striker in the world and are just a few weeks away from hearing THAT champions league music in the best stadium in the world.

Whether you’ve supported spurs for 3 years (like my son, age 3 ), 5 years, 10 years, 20 years or 28 years like myself, it’s a fucking good time to be a spurs fan so fuck this transfer window (and fuck our chairman if you like) and let’s get behind the manager and the players.

The badge on the front of the shirt will always be greater than the name on the back of it.

COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!

This is exactly why I have only invested the odd cock twitch in this window.

Had much more fun keeping a close eye on stadium completion.

Makes everything better.

Think it was a terrible window. Didn't back the manager and shows the players a lack of ambition.

Money is tight with the stadium but with it being near completion i thought the extra revenue would allow us to invest in the squad. This isn't the case and with the southern phase yet to start it might be a few years before do see a return. Our youth helped us massively before, sales of pritchard, mason, townsend and the emergence of kane allowed us to strengthen while maintaining a zero net spend. Not sure if they can now with many going abroad for almost nothing.

I don't want levy gone but i would like new owners, even if they only buy a stake in order to clear the debt. Cause i do fear we could fall out of the top 4, if we do we will struggle to keep hold of our stars. Eriksen is in the last year of his contract next summer would he want to stay?

Terrible window. One decent cm is what we needed especially with the worries over the fitness of winks, dembele and wanyama.

Poch can turn this around, he will get the players to believe in themselves and have belief and faith that their teammates can deliver. That is his forte, the emotional side of coaching. However it only gets you so far; I hope he sticks around.
