That’s bizarre. TOB has hardly played all of last season, has he? De Ligt obviously walks off with that award with Joao Felix, Sancho and Kai Havertz closely following.

tob played all of last season, just not very well. bit of a strange inclusion but then these lists are typically 90% filler.

I hope he makes it, I really do, but I’m also a realist. He’s too small imo. Doesn’t have the freakish strength/speed required for such a little player at the top level.
Chuck in a potential dodgy attitude and I’d be pleasantly amazed if he makes it at our place.
I don't know Marcus Edwards personally and everything that I've heard about him is from here and other media.

I've heard he's 'freakishly talented' and I've heard that his attitude may have left something to be desired. These things are probably inter-linked. If you grow up a prodigy, constantly being told how great you are, and you can see for yourself that you're head and shoulders above the level of your peers, it would be a special person who didn't come to believe that they will be a world superstar without having to try. If Edwards was a 'difficult' teenager that would make him the same as 99% of teenagers. The difference is the pressures and expectations on him and the fact that he has been in the spotlight since before his tenth birthday.

He is 20 now. Some people develop physically and emotionally more slowly than others. He is probably growing up. He has probably realised from the past few years that there is more to living the dream than just being 'freakishly talented'. He has just spent a year playing against men and, by all accounts, has acquitted himself well. He might well be ready to dedicate himself to being what the coaching staff want and need him to be; ready to compete for a place in the first team squad and to realise his apparently enormous potential.

I suggest it's time to set aside previous opinion about him and to see what happens. I don't suppose anybody at the club wants him to fail.

No we haven't had confirmation. We do have a pretty good idea about the intake though.

There are three goalkeepers

Toni Oluwayemi (younger brother of academy goalkeeper Joshua), Timothee Lo'Tutula (who signed from Brentford after they shut down their academy) and Isak Middtun Solberg (after a successful trial from Bryne in Norway)

Five defenders

Kallum Cisse (who joined us from West Ham a couple of seasons ago, he can play right back or in central midfield), Marqus Muir (who can play right back or centre half), Dermi Lusala (another lad that joined from Brentford who can play anywhere across the back), Matthew Craig (one half of the Craig twins, a central defender and Scotland youth international) and Jeremy Kyezu (who has transitioned from winger to left back).

1 midfielder

Michael Craig (the other Craig twin, can play anywhere through the middle).

and 4 forwards

Eddie Carrington-Alberdi (can play anywhere in attacking midfield), Nile John (see Alberdi), Max Robson (a really good youngster in the Harry Kane mould, can play 9 or 10) and lastly Tarelle Whittaker (a fairly orthodox striker).

Cheers very much appreciated. Heard of a few. You know anything about Aird-munn and Siziba. Read a few interesting bits on both.

Aird-Munn was released, he's moved to Fulham. Siziba was also released and moved to Ipswich. Both are wide players.

Can anyone give their opinion on Troy Parrott? Will he be pushing first teamers this season coming? I like the look of him a lot. Perhaps anyone who has watched him (@Spurzinho) could you tell me his strengths and weaknesses? COYS

I doubt Troy will be pushing 1st teamers. He will likely be involved in some training with senior squad and may get some bench time in cup games but he’s still 17. Imo he’s got a bit of everything I’d quite liken him to Berbatov but a bit more rugged. Definitely lots of potential I think the most you could hope for next season is he has similar involvement to Skipp this season. He actually may well get a chance for Ireland before he does for Spurs.

Had a good chat with someone on twitter re max Robson. He actually likened him to Clarke at Leeds. Says he’s very pacey. Quite excited to see him now next season.

In terms of strengths, its all there, he just needs to bulk up a bit and get some more experience. His touch is good, he shields the ball well but can get outmuscled at the moment by older players. His set-pieces and shooting from distance are very good. His ability to attack space needs work. He's not super quick but neither is he slow. I think he has the potential to be strong in the air but, again, needs to develop physically. His finishing 1v1 is decent but could improve. He's not as creative as someone like Kane but still drops off well and acts as a foil for the attacking midfielders. As I say, everything's there he just needs time to learn how to use what he's got. He's nowhere near ready yet.

Do you really think he’s not a creative as Kane ? Obviously right now he’s not gonna be Kane levels. But I think he has the potential to play as a 9 or 10. That’s why I likened him to Berbatov, he’s got great touch and bit of that swagger. But also got that classic No 9 feel about. My only real worry with him his pace, it’s just so important in the modern game.

Wasn't lack of pace
the stick that was always used
to beat HK with?
He has found ways to offset this,
and so might a kid of 17 by 8 years time

After seeing Solanke DCL and Abraham tonight made me think is there any really highly touted English striker between 17-21. I remember hearing loads about sancho and Hudson odoi and foden as potential mega stars. But I’m struggling to think of a striker. I’m sure there are a couple but nobody has really caught my attention. I guess there’s Brewster but personally don’t really rate him. Just made me think is Parrott possibly the most highly touted in the British isles between 17-21 ?

Mason Greenwood has a a lot of hype at United. Rated higher than Rashford by many observers.
