Thought Bennetts was injured sounds like he's being doing well then.

Madueke would take a lot longer to settle as he doesn't speak Dutch but has now been brought on for PSV's last couple of UYL matches which is promising. Hear he looked decent against us today
I think they are making it up tbh. Did you ever see Bennetts and think to compare him to Bale? He has only finished 2 of his 5 starts for their U21s and the second to last game he came off at half time.

Not having a go at Bennetts btw, or trying to make out his move wasn't a good one, as even with knowing the language, it will time to adapt. From the article below, it sounds like a mixture of switching between two formations and Bennetts competition in the other formation having a stormer, is affecting his game time.

No though anyone who might have seen his highlights from last year when he would dribble through players or cut inside and curl one in the corner, might think he resembled Bale, which kind of proves your point. A lot of these articles aren't based on watching them play, I should knwo better. I can see how they probably based their opinion of him off the few clips posted online rather than watching him for 90mins.

But thanks for the actual update. As you say he will still need to update even if he can speak the language, wouldn't expect things to go right straight away but just assumed the article was correct

Yeah, unfortunately it looks like typical hyping up of youngsters whilst knowing little about them.

I hate it when journos do that, it puts unnecessary pressure on the player and unrealisticly heightens fans expectations.

I couldn’t make the game yesterday , but looking at these clips Austin did well again , other than a slight Lloris moment .Looks like , I think it was Harvey white gave the ball away, by passing backwards that nearly cost us a goal . Also looks like Roles had a hand in that second goal , laying it off to Bennett’s to go on his run , according to the report he was only on for 12 mins yet he still manages to have some involvement in a goal

I'll post this in here rather than the general youth thread. England u16 won the Val De Marne tournament and here's what the Japanese coach said from here http://www.jfa.jp/eng/national_team/news/00019409/

"As the result shows, England was by far the strongest team in this tournament. The speed and quality shown in their passes, their ball handling skills, and their ability to make quick and accurate decisions were outstanding. With their success at the recent FIFA U-17 World Cup, their flashy offence has been featured the most in the media, but their fundamental quality was on full display during this tournament "

Remember France was in this tournament. I've posted views of coaches before about our England age groups as it's always interesting to see them praise our teams as the best they see, then for the French, German players to come through, and the England fans who know no better say, they were always better, hence their players come through.

I've said many times before if we actually brought through players properly we would win a World Cup. The 03 age group this refers to contains Dembele, Jude Bellingham (who is probably the star player) but Harvey Elliot from Fulham is also eligible. And we had Nile John who was in the attack. I rate him highly. We also had Watt who I like, and players like the Craig's are eligible and Lusala has previously featured.

With the 02s they are another excellent age group. I am unsure on their depth and don't know them as well as some age groups but I do know they have a really good attack with a lot of variety. Madueke I believe, expectantly finds himself back in the squad after settling abroad along with and Walcott is back in too and we already have Cirkin there. They will be facing ROI, Czech Republic and Germany.

Everton landed with 500k fine and banned from signing players from other academies . Think it’s for two years. Our player Forson was said to be training with them in the summer. Presume he will have to find another club or poss return to us

Unfortunately it goes on all the time. Everton were just unlucky enough to get caught. With their new found wealth its hard to imagine a 500k fine having any effect whatsoever. We must be one of the only clubs that seems to do it in the right way. I've haven't heard any suggestion from another club that we have behaved poorly in regard to an academy player. There were grumblings from Palace during the Bostock transfer but never any suggestion that we were in any way bending the rules. Other than that I think its always been above board.

He won't return, otherwise he would have already as he is training alone atm. If he had sense he'd go to City if they were still interested,, which I imagine they are

And this is exactly why we need to introduce B teams into the football league system. Imagine if we had the ability to retain a 23 man squad of under 23 year olds playing League 1 or Championship football, players like Bennets and Griffiths would see opportunity there to make a name for themselves and have ample opportunity to develop.
If you limit the squad size (ie only 25 players allowed) you end the stockpiling of talent whilst giving you option to develop

Walcott I like. He's a bullish defender that can also bring the ball out. Lyons-Foster everyone likes I think, he can play anywhere across the back four and just reads the game really well. Binks is a little Alderweireld clone, just a good footballer, loves a switch of play but doesn't mind defending either, will stick his head in if he has to. Tanganga is...not my cup of tea, too reactive in my opinion. I think a lot of people are impressed by his blocks and sliding challenges but I tend to just see him as a last ditch defender which, again, isn't my cup of tea. Eyoma I like for his composure, yes he makes mistakes but he has a calmness and progressiveness to his game that is very eye catching. His time at fullback, which is not a natural fit if you've ever seen him, seems to have brought a new confidence to his play - he's far happier bringing the ball out now and looks good doing it.

If I had to plump for one to make it I would put my money on... ... ...Walcott. But that's mainly because of his size, his aggressiveness and the fact that he plays on the front foot. There's just a lot there to catch the eye at a level where defenders generally do look a bit iffy. The others are all quality though and should all play professional football at some level.

Opinions are like ars*h*les though, everyone's got one.

1. BLF just bc he's the complete rolls royce continetal defender and I have high hopes for him.

2. Binks is a sneaky one, left footed and very good on the ball.

3.Eyoma I like a lot, love his athleicism. He's getting better on the ball to me it's still his biggest weakness. And he needs to pick it up if he wants to truly compete for a 1st team spot imo.

4.Tanganga more of a traditional defender. He's almost like Michael Dawson, if Michael Dawson could jump and had mobility. I like him as a person and he's not bad to have around just dont think he's suited to our style.

tbd. Walcott I haven't seen much of, but it would be awesome to be able to bring through just a beast in the air, who can also play in our system. Think it's a massive problem in our first team we dont have that CB that wins everything in the air. It'll be most helpful both defending and attacking corners.

BLF is the best of the lot.

Tanganga is a good player who has gone stale but I blame u23 football and not the player,he needs a loan.

Walcott is a powerful Lad who has done very well,he has been done for pace on the odd occasion Aston Villa at home he got done on the outside for their goal but because of his age I am sure he will improve as he goes along.

Eyoma I cannot change my mind on and I am not sure about him, have been watching him a lot but at this time do not see what others are seeing,he did play very well on the USA tour.

Binks is as others are saying very good.

Max Statham has made a lot of improvements this year but needs to play more football.

agree with edson and allpaths on lyons-foster, he's out on his own at the top for me. my only reservations with him are how he develops physically(he's still a skinny lad relative to the others) and if this rb experiment is going to continue. i know a lot of people think it's good for them to play in different positions and i'm not saying there's no merit in doing so but i can't help but feel that when we do it we just end up halting their progress/rhythm and as a result the player loses confidence and form.

from what i've seen i don't think there's many cbs in any of england's age groups as smooth on the ball as he is. the other striking thing about blf is his composure defensively, so many defenders his age(and in general to be fair) are so keen to jump in as soon as they have a sniff of winning the ball whilst blf just stands ups and bides his time making the attacker commit. the areas he needs to work on are strength as sometimes he can get roughed up a bit by physical strikers and maybe just be wary of taking chances on the ball, he knows how comfortable he is in possession but occasionally he does overdo it.

It kind of makes you realise how good foyth is that at 20 he looks so comfortable. If we can even just bring one through alongside sanchez and Foyth we are set for another 10 years.

Will never happen in this country. We would be better off copying Chelsea who virtually own Vitesse in Holland. City are doing something similar with Girona but not on same scale at the moment. The owners of Leicester also own a club in Belgium.
