It 's nothing to do with luck its hard work from beginning to end by the player and the academy. That's what they work for - Chelsea's academy is bloody good and has produced a stream of good players even though they have struggled to make them into first team players at Chelsea

Chelsea do pinch a fair old amount from other teams youth setups though. Whilst they might have a decent youth set up a brown paper bag filled with money slipped into a parents porch doesn't harm their chances neither, unless they are caught being a little underhanded with the rules and given a transfer ban of course

I’m sorry picking out a player at 7 and him going on to make his full England debut at 18 involves a lot of luck. Of course Chelsea have a great set up and cho has had great training and worked hard. But if you have a group of 30 talented 7 yr olds picking out the one who’s going to be a world superstar involves a lot of luck.

Who will score the first goal at the new stadium in today’s U18 match?

I’m going for Dilan Markanday.

Feels better to know they didn’t nick him at 13/14 from Watford lol. Crazy really such luck of the draw to pick up a kid at 7 that’s likely going to go on to be a £100m + player.
You do realise that we pick up players at 13/14 too?

Everything requires an element of luck though. We've had Winks since he was 8. The scouting from our clubs is great, but more importantly the coaching is top notch.

We get the talented kids and like the other clubs have incredible coaches to get them to the level required. CHO isn't the only player they have had at that level over the years, they have had loads of top quality players who should be playing PL football and could have played for England, he's just the most recognised at the moment, after the exploits of England at the u17 World Cup and suddenly everyone focusing on English academy players. Remember this is a kid who still can't really get a game for Chelsea, and the only time he did was during the transfer window, so he is no different to all of the other top quality players they have had. I could probably reel off at least 5 other players, who are/were as talented as him in their respective positions who failed to get chances. The difference is Southgate is now in charge to shine a light on them, plus his physique allowing him to be ready now. We have had our own top tier talents that haven't got chances. I say all this to stress, he isn't a one of lottery, he is one of so many to have come through the Chelsea academy due to their scouting and their coaching, and of course work by the player. It seems as though he is a one off and special, because he is the only one to really get chances at the moment. But as I've said before that is something that still plagues English fans, while CHO is a special player, the logic is that anyone and everyone that does eventually come through must be incredible, because it is just so damn rare. Dasilva, Mount, RLC, McEachran, James and I'd argue Abraham, are all players that should have been or still could be England players, if they are managed correctly, or would at the very least make our talent pool really impressive. We still have our own but we're running out of time for a lot of them, lets hope the next lot are handled better.

BIg shame all of our strikers are injured. I imagine it will be White from a freekick.

I think most of Chelsea’s youth team last year had been there from 8yrs old. Must have some real top coaches and scouts picking these kids. Not only that but they have previously released Declan Rice and Eddie Nketiah at 14.
Also England under 17 centre forward from the World Cup was there , now at Liverpool. Cannot remember his name.

So poor from the club not streaming this. Honestly so irritating - they're obviously recording it and have a commentary team judging by the video they've put up on Twitter.
