good performance from the u18s in difficult conditions.

markanday the star of the show, some brilliant surging runs and a couple of cracking goals. shashoua was also very good, controlled the game from dm(we played lined up in a 4141 type shape) and his penalty was hazard-esque. binks strong at the back and somehow managed to hit a couple of his trademark diagonals despite the 50mph winds. oluwayemi with another smart penalty stop and also saved a 1v1, didn't have a great deal to do otherwise as we had most of the game. clarke caused them a few problems down the wing and the rest were all decent, walcott was a bit shaky on a couple of occasions and gave away the pen though.

u16s were playing on the pitch alongside so got to see them too but unfortunately they lost 3-0. didn't recognise all of the players but lusala, muir, cesay, hackett, haysman, mathurin, robson and alberdi all played. pretty sure the craig twins were there too, or at least michael was as i kept hearing the coach shout his name.

Interesting that Muir was there given that the rumour is that he's not getting a contract. In the past once the decision was made the player would be allowed to start looking for a new club, only players still trying to earn a last minute deal stayed around. Things could well have changed though.

there were a few players that i didn't recognise but you or @IGSpur might be able to i.d them. one was a tall, powerful #8, a tall but slight #10 and a short/slight #9, all black lads. also heard the coach shouting "zonzi" or something similar a lot too but can't think who that would be.

@IGSpur has spoken about a forward called Kymani Thomas, he could be one of those.

Can't think of a Zonzi.

One of the new lads could be Ferdinand Okoh. We signed him from West Ham.

Nabil Bentaleb has been relegated to the Schalke U23 squad for disciplinary reasons.

Looks like Poch was right after all.

There seems to be some doubt over the veracity of this. I'd suggest caution, before people get too excited or irate.
