Cirkin had a very good game but i do want to see their first goal because their player ran between Cirkin and Eyoma and they should have dealt with him better than they did.
It was poor.. And almost happened again in there next attack.

Hoddle.. but seriously I would imagine most of our lads are good on the ball (or they wouldn't be at THFC), just wondering if any of the lads at the U18 age group are being thought of as real potential to be future first team players for us.

The whole team! Our U18s are superb. Well coached, high skill & work ethic, great team spirit and they play fantastic football.
Some of my favourites:
Markanday - in the hole or right wing.
Bennett- left/ right wing.
Maghoma - in the hole.
Armando Shashoua - centre mid or in the hole.
Paterson - centre mid.
Parrott- striker.

Not sure Parrott will play seems to be with the seniors at present. In regard to Roles don’t see why he couldn’t join up with seniors when they are next in probably Friday as another game on Sunday. Lamela won’t be able to play 3 in a week. And a big risk playing eriksen with another 2 PL games in next week. So that only really leaves Moura Llorente Nkoudou maybe Sissoko as attacking options. Could definitely see 2 or 3 kids involved on Sunday.

Excellent read this, bit of insight into being a young player trying to make it - also not everyone is Rooney and the finished article at 17.

Thanks for the link. ?? Enjoyed reading that. Don’t think I’d heard or at least visited the site before but have bookmarked it now.

My view of the game tonight De bie did well considering this is only his second game of the season , made some good saves , but what is it with our goalkeepers playing around with it in the area and putting everyone including himself under pressure . Hinds I thought played reasonably well managed to get out of some tight play really well. Cirkin done well considering he is a first year , but could see needs more experience . Tanganga did ok but not his normal commanding self . Eyoma wasn’t at his best tonight , gave away the penalty , passes were too short at times seen him play better . Marsh was bad tonight , he tried too hard to play a role that really doesn’t suit him , an attacking role , his fault for one goal at least and thanks to our keeper saved his bacon more then once . Having said that he will probably be on the bench against palace which I really don’t understand . Oakley booth showed glimpses of pace but doesn’t seem to know what to do with it once he’s passed his man . Didn’t really effect the game one bit . Roles didn’t have his best game either but made up for it with pure intelligence , his pass to Tracy to assist the goal was absoloutley superb . His free kick was outstanding and pure determination for his second goal . He certainly deserves to be on that bench for the first team , but we will probably go with marsh instead for what reasons I couldn’t tell you but I wish someone would enlighten us with why he is being ignored . Georgiou had a poor first half other then his assist to Jansen , but second half was better and was happy to see him score his goal . Jansen took his goal well and tried his best but his touch was not the best and some of his passing was off but again he scored and assisted . I believe our lads took quite a lot of abuse from Bilbao players , not exacley sure what went on but something happened at the far end with either Tracy or Tanganga and something also happened with Roles on our side . At one point the refferee had come over to both managers and the match was stopped whilst he spoke to both managers , Both occasions it was the Bilbao players inflicting the problem and our boys rose above it very well .

Very happy to see De Bie get a run out tonight,he was to blame for one of the goals with a bad pass out from the back but he had a brilliant night pulling off 3or4 top saves and once again saving a pen.
He was widely hyped when we got him. What is the general feeling about him amongst the yoof watchers here. I know he is still young. Is there a future there?

I like him a lot last year he was one of our better players for the u18s,it has been a hard year for him so far and that is because of Austin.

He made a mistake tonight but I still think he is a very good keeper who is a good all round keeper and is very good with the ball at his feet.

His problem might be that he is not big for a keeper but I do find it hard to say what his weaknesses are because he is good at everything.

Austin and De Bie have both made the same mistakes this year with sloppy passing from out of the back but this is more to do with how youth setups play and I am sure it happens a lot, going forward it helps if you have a keeper who is good on the ball just look at Liverpool and City.

De Bie is the best with the ball at his feet Austin is good but sometimes he takes a bit too long in moving the ball and he has nearly come unstuck a few times this year.

Austin should be no 1 for the u23s but De Bie is too good to be a backup keeper.

What does earn the right mean though? This is the same thing being said at all Premier League clubs, there is either a problem or there isn't. European clubs can see it and are taking advantage of England expecting their academy players to be finished articles before they get a chance.

These kids are standouts in the academy considered some of the best players in the world, and Premier League managers want to make sure they're guaranteed not to make any mistakes, whilst simultaneously not giving them the opportunity to prove that and playing players that are constantly making mistakes.

I think that means seeing the interaction with the senior players, whether they buy in to the teams ethos and if they hold up to the pressure and maturity levels required.
I don't think there's a question as to footballing ability otherwise they wouldnt be anywhere near the side but for those that are on the cusp of breaking through its showing the can be relied on

Things like marsh getting on bench do seem odd. After hearing pochettino talk about Janssen and say “ the club” made a decision about him 18 months ago. It gave me the impression that we make quite rigid decisions on players and there isn’t much room for flexibility. Like some really are just being fattened up for a £2m sale and others are actually in the clubs plans.

You lot are going to have to keep a eye on Rafferty Pedder this year now he is back.

I have been waiting for over a year to watch Pedder play and what I could see from his small cameo appearance today you lot will Love this player.

First off not many people have seen him play in over a year because of his injuries, so let me tell you how he has changed since maybe a few of you last saw him play,he has got a lot bigger and he is about the same size as Maxi Tainio but the thing that surprised me today was his speed, he is a lot faster than I remember and he can use both feet he has excellent movement off the ball and the Lad can pass a ball as well.

He came on just after we got our 4th goal and it was his shot that Binks scored the rebound from with his looping header over the keeper.

It will take Pedder a long time to get into this very good u18s team but he is as Talented as any other player in that Squad just need to stay away from injuries.

Is there any news about Pedder? Is he still battling injuries? Never seem to see him in any line ups.

Do not think he is injured, I think I have seen him playing on the u16 pitch a few times.

He is a a very good player and let's hope he can put a run of games together with the u18s next year.

Very hard to answer that because of the football he has missed, last time he played for the u18s they put him out wide but that is not the only position he can play, he is in the Alex Pritchard mold but he is taller and faster than Pritchard is.
